This is a terrific picture. Obviously we don't see the 'control' beforehand but we do see that he doesn't punch it home as has been claimed. Those fans with their blinkers on won't have notice to no17 trying to swap shirts before the end of the game so if they're claiming HB then we'll have the earlier penalty please.

He’s scored as many goals as Chelsea in the whole of April

BBC R1 have featured it on their news every hour today - with a comms clip from Sky Sports I’m guessing.

Even better news about this goal is that it apparently cost the bookies a fortune.

Some punters had done every game, others with various combinations and permutations, but anyone who did a both teams to score bet was paid out.

There were 8 games involving English sides (& Welsh for the pedants!), 2 in the Champions League, 6 in the EFL. Both teams had scored in every game apart from ours until Ben popped up. I imagine that many more than City fans celebrated at that point.

Any goalkeeper who scores a 95th-minute equaliser is a bit of a legend immediately. Then add the importance of the match, and the scruffiness of the goal-contrasted with the imaginary overhead kick that Wilson himself envisioned scoring himself seconds before, "literally". Then there's the Geordie vernacular-do you think he calls Robins "Our Gaffer" in training?!

He's not a bad 'keeper now, either.

What was the Bobby Robson phrase for Gazza, "daft as a brush"? Brilliant.

If you listen to the opposition commentary Clive and Oggy are absolutely the bomb (sorry for 80s quote). The Blackburn ones were at least reasonable. Most are absolutely dire and uninformed.

Yeah a guy at work, who’s a Vile fan,was over the moon cuz he had both teams to score & found himself almost 150 quid richer (first thing he said to me when I saw him today was ‘Wilson…whatta legend’ )

I love this from the Blackburn forum.

It was handball and it of it wasn't then it was a foul and if it wasn't a foul...

The photo is taken after the ball hit him in the chest or arm and bounced down.
If you could rewind the picture back a few frames you'd see.

Its irrelevant anyway, it happened so fast that the ref couldn't possibly be certain either way. And if we're on about decisions, they should of been down to 10 men before the equaliser

Someone on the Blackburn forum posted “hard evidence” frame by frame of the blatant handball. It’s the clearest view I’ve seen but it doesn’t help his case a bit

Blatant shirt pull on our player at near post so should have been penalty before handball anyway.

Given how many cameras and different angles there are, why isn’t there a single one showing the ball hitting his hand? Because it didn’t is why! Clutching at straws to cover their shithousing and
paying the price in extra time

On their forum there’s a behind goal still by still. It’s obvious it did.

I don’t see why people try and deny it.

Their fans seem more annoyed that Mcfazdean wasn’t sent off. For what I have no idea

It was a controlled raking, just a little ‘pipe down lad’.
Do the Blackburn fans have anything to say about Travis almost dropkicking Panzo with his foot chest height?

But this is the point surely? Football supporters are totally biased and can’t assess a referees performance

The stoke offside goal is an example of the officials being labelled corrupt and cheating when it actually proved to be a correct decision - which at the time I couldn’t believe was
