2 CLASS finishes yesterday

Bit painful watching the goals, in envy wishing they were still here playing for us

They are not playing for us anymore, move on.
Spend our energies on the players we have, however "average" they might be.

Any quality player we have will no be here for long, best case is a loan player hits form like Armstrong then our owners can not sell him

Life at the bottom.

It's a shame we couldn't offer the wages for them to obtain a mortgage. They would've seen us promoted.

This.
Armstrong was never ours and Wilson is in his 3rd season Away from us.

With this logic, who's starting the Cody scored thread or the Jackson / fleck bench warmers already thread?

The point is we had them to enjoy. They are on the long list of many city players we can be proud of for pulling on the shirt.

There will be players in the future who we will be proud of.

We chose to get rid of Cody for free
He scored 1 in every 2 games since we ditched him.
Up there with baker in the stupid decisions category.
Maybe Martin as well.

Other than that comment move on. I think we have a decent first 11 ( not enough depth) and a good manager

No he hasn't. Hes scored an average of 1 in 3. 42 in 133 appearances. Hes only scored 2 in 10 so far this season and only 5 in 26 games last season.

We got rid of both baker and Cody because we couldn't afford to keep paying championship level money. Cody took a big wage cut to go to Gillingham, but offset with us paying him off.

As a well known princess once said "let it go...."

As stupot says it's one in three so that's not true and his successors were far better so it's absurd to say it wasn't the correct decision to release him and free up his wages.

No he hasn't, he didn't join them until June 2013.

13/14 - 48 games 17 goals
14/15 - 49 games 18 goals
15/16 - 26 games 5 goals
16/17 - 10 games 2 goals

Total goals 42 in 133 so 1 in 3.2 games

A class act in a Sky Blue shirt, these days anyway, is never likely to wear the shirt for long - be it via loan, or a bigger club offering SISU the bare minimum for them.

This is our reality. There are far too many fans with their heads in the past, expecting us to attract name-players and barnstorm up the leagues. It won't happen, unless TM is a true miracle worker. The best we can hope, for this season, is to scrape the play-offs and luck our way up. Realism is harsh, but it saves clinging onto sentiment.

Personally, I wish Wilson and Armstrong the very best for their very promising careers; they did us a good turn, and it'll be interesting to see how they fare in the years to come.

That's always been the case irrespective of who has owned us. As discussed to death, we can blame SISU for many things, but selling a player or not re-loaning a player isn't really one of them.

I wasn't pinning it solely on SISU, perhaps I worded it badly.

It was more of an attempt to give clarity to those who still bash SISU, and still lament the loss of key players to larger clubs.

There's no harm in keeping track on how old players are doing, is there?

Am I the only person who watches MoTD and the FL show (torture!) with half-an-eye on those with at best tenuous links to the club/city (e.g. Patrick Van Aanholt, McGoldrick etc. etc.)?

I always thought Cody was half-way decent too, and could have done us a job if he'd stayed - I'm not bitter about it though, life goes on. The turnover of players seems so fast now though, that I would imagine half the league (the bottom half, most likely!) will have played for us at some point...

Managing us must be like National Service. Everyone's got to do it for a year at some point, no-one enjoys it, but it's up to you if you get it out the way early or put it off for as long as possible!

McDonald doing well elsewhere doesn't change that he was terrible here. It's like Coleman doing well with Wales, or McCartney finally being in a good band with Wings.

I do genuinely admire don's loyalty to him though.

Given he was obsessed with the useless fat oaf (I mean Cody and not the useless fat oaf he adored), you'd think even shit for brains would have researched his second spell at Gillingham - not his total record there!

Yes. You wouldn't mind him being a limited player if he kept himself in shape. He didn't. Looked like he was still working on the building site eating belly busters everyday with 6 pints after work.
