Smith has resigned his Oscar’s membership and the academy are opening disciplinary proceedings. Presume the most they can do is take the award back?!. Anyhow, not staged then.

I thought resigning from the academy was quite the gesture but it just means he can't vote on awards, unless anything else is done he can still turn up to accept them and dropkick whoever's on stage before calling himself a canoe of emotion or whatever.
