Happy for people to define themselves as they wish....

But I worked with this insufferable guy who was half English half American, when anyone asked him where he was from he would reply " Somewhere in the mid Atlantic"

Still makes me shudder thinking about it.

Well the only land out there is Bermuda and the Azores, so he's either British or Portuguese.

The same way Grealish and Rice turned English

They were both definitely English, but could qualify for Ireland though family lineage.

Which is better than the current qualification of the country where you played your sport.

Personally, I don't understand those who switch international sides or play for one without feeling a true affinity to the nationality/country- coming from an Irish family I only ever wanted to play for Ireland.

Not always binary though is it, there may have been difficult conflicts in their head about letting people down, both Rice and Grealish were born in England but have Irish grandparents. If you met them with out any context you'd say that's a Brummie and a Cockney! Was alway going to piss people off when they switched but both just played to the rules.

Easier to accept players like Will Keane switching after playing youth games, never gonna make the cut for England. Was always going to take the Irish offer

I come from an Irish /English family and would happily play for both. Patriotism is highly over rated anyway - just another means of suppression by the ruling class.

He's looking like quite the bargain for Preston

Liked him from the time we played Ipswich back in L1 at St Andrew's. Had a cracking game against us.
