If Lampard is appointed, he’ll be off after a while if he does well, or badly. So, I dunno. Just seems like a PR appointment, if he gets it.

Where would you see him go if he was to do well with us?

Also, what constitutes doing well with us?

Of course, whoever comes in has my backing and support, until their performance suggests it was a bad idea to appoint them.

Disagree. This is the kind of project Lampard needs at this point in his career. He went down the fast track route at Derby and then Chelsea and that didn’t end well.

A good 2-4 season with us, a promotion and maybe keeping us up would do his reputation a world of good. His spells at Everton and 2nd Chelsea spell could be written off as being the wrong person, wrong club, wrong time.

Lampard will want big wages I suspect, and at least his own number two. There was an article that said a stumbling block was control of transfers. I wouldn't blame him.
My gut feeling is not good about great players becoming managers, although some have been excellent. There was an in-depth study of great players becoming managers many years ago before all the data driven information that is crucial these days. Many of the failures admitted their frustration at lesser players being unable to do what a great footballing manager expected of them.
There must be a candidate out there who has been successful everywhere in the lower leagues or a number two who can make the step up. Trouble is can't think of one. Be interesting if the so called lesser applicants at Cardiff (with possibly less money) does better than us.
I worry with King we will become the new Watford without the parachute payments. Tha Chairman, Chief Executive and the whole Board ie King needs to get this one right.

If it’s Lampard with Terry & Cole as coaches and Redknapp as DoF that would be pretty star studded… won’t happen but I’d forgive Doug for making that decision if he felt he had this offered to him before pulling the plug on Robins.
There’s no way he didn’t have Lampard lined up before pulling the plug on Robins if he has these relationships like it’s been touted

Where has the Redknapp rumour come from, other than the speculation on here? He’s nearly 80 so don’t see that one happening.

Not sure I buy the 'he did a bad job at Everton line' the club was an absolute basket case and still is. He didn't excel at the job no. But the team Lampard had was woeful and he still managed to just keep them in the league.

His record isn't that much worse than Benetiz at Everton who I'm sure many would be buzzing if we brought in. (Of course Benetiz track record before is very good but just for context of where that team was at.)

I don't think Lampard is anyone's first choice and he isn't mine, but he deserves a chance and some patience if he is given the job, and I hope he makes a good go of it
