Not at our very best or sharpest today - excluding Vik somehow effortlessly making Champ quality defenders look like U12s.

But good news that we can still dominate teams and find a way to win without being at our sharpest.

Wilson - 7: Another solid performance, best save was from Hamer and seemed to have improved his distribution a bit, and nothing makes be giggle like his timewasting when we’re 1-0 up.

Rose - 7: Looked good before his injury, passing has improved and some excellent interceptions. Can’t win shit in the air against their big lump though

Fadz - 7: Another typical Fadz performance. Absolute rock.

Panzo - 6: Not his best game, let’s the ball go past him too much and gets himself into trouble.

Eccles - 6: Does some good stuff but final ball was poor too often and had the RWB disease of refusing to get down the line and make space for the RCB.

Hamer - 7: Nearly scored at both ends! Looks a different player since his ban. Love his driving runs, and a couple of the balls to put people through were stunning.

Sheaf - 7: Solid game, used the ball well, made some vital blocks and headers away towards the end at 1-0.

Bidwell - 6: Solid if not spectacular, needs to improve his delivery weirdly enough.

Palmer - 6: Should have had a goal, some great play with O’Hare but didn’t look on his game and stuff wasn’t coming off for him.

O’Hare - 6: Fucking shoot! Not back to his best yet. He’ll get there.

Gyok - 7: Not his best game but what a fucking goal and he must be an absolute nightmare to play against.

Allen - 6: Ran around a lot. Actually got a block in so fair play.

Walker - 6: Thought he could have done better with his chance but on the replay it was behind him and he had a tiny space to aim for. Worked hard, but just didn’t come off for him.

Doyle - 6: Was OK. Like him on the ball more than I do defensively though.

Overall a better team performance than individual. Hard to pick a MOTM maybe Sheaf for his consistency and defensive duties towards the end, maybe Fadz.

Where's the 'everyone's a 10' GIF?

I find it hard to do ratings after we've won. I genuinely couldn't give a fuck if they were all threes and fours.

Panzo got away with a lot tonight, a few others looking leggy and with how many games we’ve had you can see why.

Gyo’s goal alone well worth the price of admission

Closer to the playoffs than the relegation zone. Win Saturday and I’ll start believing. Though I’m scared that the owners will see us as safe and take that as it’s OK to flog everyone in Jan.

About how I saw it. No one really stood out, just solid and generally uninspiring.

Thought he was solid. Good to see a referee give Gyökeres a few free kicks.

Added the time on, too.

First half he didn’t. They wasted more than 1 min on throwins alone.

Swear they handled the ball more than. The Harlem Globetrotters and never got it given either. And we should have had a pen on O’Hare second half.

Again a solid performance probably seven out of ten all round, bit lack lustre first half but we’ll on top second and deserved victory, m-o-m difficult perhaps Hamer just about,

Thought that was about the best game Martin has had as a referee involving us. Normally he gives a penalty against us and nothing for us. Aldi thought he was better than most we’ve had all season.

Hamer motm. Again for about the.

Absolute complete midfielder. What would we do without his drive and energy. Absolute gem. Reigning in his silly bookings now too. Hes way too good for this division.

Don't know about complete midfielder, but he's certainly exciting to watch. What's he going to do now? Attempt a lovely through ball or pass it back into his own net? Unfortunately there are people on here that would prefer him to be Sammy Clingan. Someone in the match thread said he was poor first half and he wasn't at all.

That's the kind of game we struggle in and Wigan made it difficult with how they set up. Their defence first half were very disciplined with how tight they were to Gyok and Palmer particularly. As soon as either got the ball, a Wigan player would be half a yard away.

Was a game for the wing backs to shine in an attacking sense and neither of them did. Eccles with the one decent cross of the game which no one got on the end of anyway. Defensively both decent particularly Bidwell, Eccles got done a few times but grew into it.

Side note: but I find the phrasing “no one got on the end of the cross” a but weird. You wouldn’t say that about any other pass on the field, you’d say “passed to no one” putting the emphasis on the passer not the rest of the team.

I honestly think crosses are overrated and half the time are just hit and hope with no intention of getting to a specific player. I’d much rather players picked a man out or ran in than floated the ball randomly ten foot in the air.

Would love to see some stats on how effective crosses generally but also ours are.

Norwich game aside I think pretty much all of our games have been tightly contested. Great for the neutral

Oh yeah definitely is a case of hit and hope a lot of the time and not particularly blaming anyone for not being there, was just the only cross I can remember into a good area between the keeper and the backline. Decent pace and the keeper wasn't comfortable with it.

It's more of a decision thing. Like choosing to float one in right next to the keeper when we have one player in the 6 yard box etc which leads to an easy catch which I think Bidwell did a couple of times.

I would also be interested in seeing those stats. I imagine we tend to cross a lot less than other teams in general?

We have had a total of 275 Crosses, or 15.3 per game vs 410 against us or 22.8 per game.

In terms of accuracy we are stone dead last with just 2.6 accurate per game. Although, as a percentage (18.1%), Cardiff are marginally worse (17.6%).

Last night was a bit of an anomaly as we had a massive 21 crosses although we completed 0.

It seems to be one of those ideas that go back to an older age of football, where you have a battering ram centre-forward who'd just assault the keeper to score. Didn't matter where the cross went - the onus was on the striker to make something of it.

Nowadays it's an option of last resort if you're struggling to break through a defence with passing, or if you're not a technically gifted team who plays a big lump up front hoping to pick off scraps.

But it does annoy me how so many crosses aren't very good or accurate. If you've got time, then it should be on the crosser to pick out a man. If it's more rushed at least get it in with a bit of pace on and not where the keeper can get it easily. Fed up of floated high crosses to the six yard box. Bit of pace and you're more likely to get deflections, missed clearances or they just have to put it behind for a corner.
