Rotherham can't score for toffee and look like they won't get another win all season

Seems like we could have stayed up on 44.

Well it's easy to say now , but had Rotherham beat us they could well have found some confidence and momentum .

They've taken 4 points from their last 9 matches including this one

Because Rotherham's masterplan of faking COVID tests and banking their games in hand, so they could get everyone fit and play teams who had nothing to play for, was more cunning than a fox who's just been appointed professor of cunning at Oxford University

To be fair, we gained momentum at the right time. If we'd lost to Rotherham, we'd have probably gone down on 39 points.

Even if we had lost to Rotherham I still think we would have stayed up. I don't think we would have gone the way Rotherham are going, their fixture congestion has done for them.
What I could never understand is how some posters thought Rotherham were sure to stay up and we were sure to get relegated.

Because at one point it seemed to be a battle between us and Rotherham for the final relegation place?

Immediately before we played Rotherham we were a point behind Derby with a game in hand and only 2 points behind Huddersfield with them still to play.

As far as I can recall it was never just between us and Rotherham.
Going back a further month we were above Birmingham and level with Huddersfield & Derby

I was supremely confident we wouldn't lose to Rotherham. A win was a fantastic bonus.

I do have some sympathy with Rotherham and Wycombe, promoted with us, who have found life in the Championship just too hot. Had our results against just these two been reversed we would now be staring relegation in the face. Well done us.

Yes, because playing 3-4 games a week against teams who are fresher is a brilliant strategy. 4D chess!

We’d still be level on points with Rotherham and out of the relegation zone.

We’re just better ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Edit: Whoops, I can’t count. We’d be one point behind Derby and just in the relegation zone. But we’re still better.

We have also been absolutely mugged by Forest this season. I reckon we should have had 4 points off them, it's all if my auntie had bollocks stuff. Those 2 games were ridiculous though.

In fairness, they had won more games than the teams around them including us. That said, they had also lost the most. Over the recent week, we’re now seeing why.

The only sympathy I really have is for the Wycombe fans it could be some of them never get to see their side play in the Championship.

I didn't ever think we would be relegated, I think we are a much better team than Rotherham, Sheff, Derby, Huddersfield, (and of course Wycombe), and certainly as good as Blackburn, Birmingham, Bristol, Forest.
We have had horrendous bad luck with injuries, other teams have had injuries as well but to lose our main strike pair for much of the season, and to have to rely on a L2 level lone striker puts it in to perspective, as good as Biamou has been, he is limited in this company.
MR has been too cautious at times, and some of his tactics have been questionable, but that was understandable giving our injuries and the amount of goals we conceded in the first part of the season.
Yes we could have gone down but I still think given reasonable luck with injuries we would have ended the season lower mid table, and never been mentioned in terms of relegation.
It's worth looking back at our position in the table for each week with a neutral view (not as a city supporter), and also the form tables, it's clear from those we were never at any time favourites for relegation.

the only downside , is that the season has now fizzled out. no end of season excitement, and will probably for the 1st time this season not even bother with watching the game. One of the downsides of no crowds, as it would have been a great day out on saturday if crowds were allowed

Because we were gifting goals, couldn’t score and looked like we wouldn’t win again all season. A massive turnaround saved the day. All this I knew we wouldn’t go down sounds like after the event bullshit I knew we would win the cup final in 1987 and that Man Utd would score 2 goals in the last couple of minutes to win the Champions League in 99 too

Me too. It wouldn’t surprise me if Wycombe went the same way as Yeovil. I hope not and hopefully they can be a yo-yo team. An easy 4-6 pts a season when we play Wycombe!

Even then we were consistently 6-7 points ahead of Rotherham...

We had a couple of tough away games that we lost badly and a lot of people were simultaneously catastrophising our form and overestimating Rotherham.

Cards on the table, I got very nervous when Rotherham pulled it to 3 points after their win v QPR because I did not fancy our away form. Other than that, I’ve been very much dismissive of our relegation chances.

Rotherham this, Rotherham that. I keep trying to say it wasn't just between us and Rotherham. Take Rotherham out of the equasion and we would still only have been in the bottom 3 a couple or three times, mostly due to having a game in hand.

Talking of the "massive turnaround saving the day" Our club historically has been brilliant when it comes to big games, and current management have never bottled big games either, so our recent form didn't particularly surprise me.
