Very do-able. We've got to play Ipswich and Doncaster at home and we can start picking up points away

I wouldn't say it's over till it's actually over. By the end of February we'll have a better idea. This coming month is crucial. I'm not "deluded", I just think we'll have a much better idea then - we can, potentially, give ourselves a very real chance of survival this month.

IF we can start picking up points away. This has proved our downfall this season. Our away form drasically and I mean drastically, needs to improve. Are our record this season is absolutely dreadful.

I can't understand why so many have just given up? We are only 6 points, that is 2 wins away from 4th bottom, Ipswich whom we play at home next weekend. We only have to better the results of the teams immediatly around us, which with our home form we are doing. It is hard buit not impossible, plenty of games to go. I will look at March and see then where we sit, IMO it will look a lot rosier.

The thing that season was we picked up 14 points away from home and won 4 times. Now if we could pick up 4 away wins we would have a ral chance - as it stands we are realing on othr teams not putting a run together as well!

Well it doesn't look good for us this season, but we sure as hell ain't down yet.
We just need to go on a run of good results like Bristol did.

Are we not 8 points behind Ipswich?

We can stay up if we all get behind the team. We are playing well at the moment. Let's see where we are in a month.

I think too expect anyone above Watford to be so poor we can defo catch them is pushing the loyalty boundary lol. Still very achievable though, no one else is performing consistently yet, and home form for us is good.....so far!

Yes, I remember that season well. I used to sit in the West End in those days. You could just about see the games through the fence!

Now, this is the attitude I don't get. We're not down until it's mathematically impossible to stay up, we've had three good home wins on the trot, got a great striker in on loan and just given our best performance of the season.

Is it going to be hard? Yes. Why give up without a fight. If the fans can't be arsed and have already given up, then why should be expect the players to give a fuck?

We need at least 48-50 points to stand a chance which means we need to pick up another 26-28 points in the last 19 games - that's at least 7/8 wins between now and the end of the season, which is top 6 form.

And we've got to hope that none of the 3/4 teams above us go on a good run.

I think it's important to note that although in the short term we have closed the gap to 6 points, we were 6 points away from safety 9/10 games ago so over the medium tern haven't closed the gap.

Our best chance is if portsmouth get points deducted.

we have won the last 3 at home, so is another 7 at home too much to ask for? i don't think so. 9/10 games ago we were aiming at 1 team outside the bottom3, there are now 5/6 teams to realistically catch, that IMO is the difference.

Hi Guys. New to the forum!

I remember this escape well. The final match was a sell out against newly crowned champions Everton. We played the game of the season (with even big Cyrille chasing lost causes!!!) with an awful lot of help from the fact Everton players had already started their holidays and couldn't be arsed!!

My memory fades, but I think it ended 4-1

Not it is not 26-28 points averages around 1.35-1.45 points per game which is 62-66 points per season. Still a lot better than we have done for the previous 10 seasons or so but is not play off form.
I think we can do it but there is going to be a lot of must win games with the first Ipswich at home.

It's not impossible, but you have to say it is highly improbable.

I think we need at least 4 points out of the next two games to be honest. Blackpool away and Ipswich at home.

Next Championship matches are;

Tuesday, 31 January 2012

Hull v Doncaster, 19:45
Ipswich v West Ham, 19:45
Millwall v Watford, 19:45
Nott'm Forest v Burnley, 19:45
Blackpool v Coventry, 20:00

Saturday, 4 February 2012

West Ham v Millwall, 12:30
Bristol City v Leeds, 15:00
Coventry v Ipswich, 15:00
Doncaster v Reading, 15:00

Sunday, 5 February 2012
Derby v Nott'm Forest, 12:15

There is a chance if we get the 4+ points to make some ground, as our rivals have tough games too. If we lose both games we are surely gone.

We can afford to lose Blackpool as Ipswich will most likely lose to hammers but Ipswich is going to be a huge one. A win will put us most probably 3 points behind them and hopefully ahead of Donny and Forest.

Understand your point, but we really need to gain ground on those above. They are not all going to continue to struggle and it's odds on that Forest will have a bit of a run at some point, as will Millwall, Doncaster, Ipswich etc., just as Bristol City did.

We have to catch up quickly and we need a run too. A defeat at Blackpool just puts us back to square one. The only way we will get out of this is if we have an unbeaten run of games.

It's also worth noting that goal difference is stacked in our favour-a 9 goal swing on both Ipswich and Doncaster; so you could argue that's already a point made in itself.

Just wondering if we were 6 points off play offs would we still be saying we have no chance of that sixth position.:thinking about:

Well, that's fine then. Keep blaming the owners, keep moaning and SISU as I'm sure that will help. We can blame SISU until we are blue in the face, but we have a situation here and giving up isn't the way we'll get out of it.

Luckily, the players are giving a fuck and are actually trying to play football. They haven't given up and I applaud them for it.

Bit daft that. For if we were 6 points off 6th position that would then denote that we hadn't had a terrible season thus far and had won a lot more games.

Leshtur are 7 points behind 6th at the moment and have won 10 games, double the number we have won. If we'd won double the amount than we have I would be saying 6 points is entirely doable too.

6 points off 6th place shows that you don't have that bad a team. 6 points off 6th place, with 10 wins under your belt means you must fancy your chances against most teams in this division and retain a reasonable amout of confidence in your abilities and potential.

6 points adrift at the bottom means that you haven't been good enough, haven't won enough and confidence must be a lot lower than the teams at the other end of the league.
