Apart from charity games, there are no concert or events?
How are Acl meant to survive?
Or are they restrained due to Sisu's court action?

What the fuck would booking a concert(or not) have to do with the JR?

Financial risk if ACL went into administration or changed hands through it.
Hardly rocket science !!!!

If they have done nothing wrong the JR isn't an unknown risk is it?

So if they can't do things in the bowl, why can they in the other places?

Load of tripe

Obviously it's an unknown risk for concert organisers as they don't know what the outcome means and why would they bother when they have other venues they can go to.

Surely it is the same for everything there?

To a lesser extent but 40000 people planned 9 months in advance is a big commitment.

It's nothing to do with ACL.
If you were planning a concert in the midlands for 40000 people why would you consider the Ricoh with a JR hanging over it.
Simple business decision for a promoter.

No it isn't. The council own the ground and promotors take out insurance against potential issues such as admin etc. total nonense as usual.

Nothing to do JR, there's simply not many bands doing stadium tours this summer unless you want to see One Direction.

But why bother if you have a choice?

Have you anything useful to say rather than try to belittle every poster?
Obnoxious post gathering WUM !!

Everybody ?

It's called having an opinion.
People put there opinion over based on their knowledge and experiences.
Some dispute it, others concur it and one person just sits alone, prick in hand, salivating, whilst slagging everyone off from the safety of his keyboard.

There have been at least 2 recent weekend events at The Ricoh, I attended one of them with my son as he asked me to take him. The one I attended there was a camping field set up between the Ricoh and the train line - yes possibly the worst campsite in the world - but it was full of tents and the event was very popular. It was also well run and very good facilities there. I have no hidden agenda just sharing what I experienced myself. One was a dance music festival the other a computer gaming festival, unfortunately I got to go to the latter it was full of bearded nerds who had not bathed.

I saw some of them in tesco with the passes, they looked like it was the best day ever.

I should have run a minibus shuttle between there and hillfields and made a fortune

Apart from your bus would have been full of half eaten wotsits and smelt by the end of the first run, it would have been hard work. My boy loved it, I quite enjoyed it until the part where we queued up for 45 minutes to get autographs signed for us by famous Youtubers. Made me think what a strange world we live in, but then that's probably be growing old. My highlight was the Byatt's brewery stand that was selling some top local beer, seriously if you haven't tried it do they seem to be doing very well for themselves. They have a little brewery in Lockhurst Lane and sell at quite a few local pubs, the Gatehouse Tavern being one of them.

How many bands can attract 40k people? It's a limited market and others around are also in the same game i.e. NEC
ACL will have much difficulty filling the void of a football club gone awol I'm afraid. It's just a sad fact for them.
Unless it is used regular as well for football I doubt they will attract U21 games or any such like events.

It is not currently a football stadia. Remember sisu said they had moved on--so ACL did the same.

I was wondering this the other day.

You would have thought they would have been going all out to secure concerts.

I don't think they can be restrained in this instance.

Maybe they have made a conscious decision to wait till after the JR due to potential clashes with other potential anchor tenants.

Maybe a host of pre arrange concerts may lesson the ability to get in a new anchor tenant.

( I will await the comments about other anchor tenants been a complete load of tosh)

However I can't think of any other reason. I believe the concerts in the past have been a success all round.

Couldn't tell you I have personally been to two.

Off the top of my head

Chillies
Oasis
Take That
Pink
Bon Jovi
Muse

I am sure there are more and I think they only do gigs during the summer months don't they?

Googling it it looks like the first one was Bryan Adams 2005.

So if it is correct they only do them over a few months (say 4 months)

9 years, so 36 months

If they have done 12 concerts then its a concert every three months.

(That's if it is correct they only do them over the summer months, probably isn't I haven't checked)

But it doesn't change the fact that most summers there is a concert and it doesn't seem like there is this year. when you think they would go hell for leather to secure a gig or two.

Indoor they've done
Florence & the Machine
Bryan Adams
Scouting for Girls,
Radio 1Xtra,
Deadmau5,
The Specials
The Enemy.
but those are only smaller events with max 12,000 attendance

(I just googled this up in last few mins)
