I appreciate that the most difficult passes to execute are in the final third but we seem to murder teams in midfield only for our final pass to let us down. I have lost count this year in the number of games we have got into the oppositions area or edge of the area only to make a rubbish pass that misses our players or is intercepted. Is it because the players are still getting to know each other or do they get a nosebleed in the final third? We should have had a hatful of goals against Cardiff and Milwall but our passing in the opposition box was dreadful overall. It seems to be shared with all our players, Hamer, O'Hare, Sheaf, Maa, Gyo, Kane, Godden, Allen and Dabo, have all been all guilty of a rubbish final ball. Also our edge of the box shooting was dreadful in most of the games. Opinions if this is just early season rustiness or just lack of ability, or confidence.

It’s early, it will happen and we will start blasting teams.

I think it’s the pace we play at. It’s split second decisions

You are correct and it’s so frustrating I lost count on how many times we get to the bye line and that final cross is crap we could have won comfortably today and in the end looking over our shoulders that we don’t concede a winner.

Most of the top teams in whatever division are guilty of that.

Think once bright is fit and available the final pass will improve 200% and that can't come soon enough.

Does it matter when we have created the amount of chances that we have?

Well on the negative side robins always gets a dud or sometimes 2 ,but think with bright he has half a chance and we all know it was the first loan spell here is where he performed at his best ,so would prefer to trust robins faith in him than everyone else thinking he's a waste of time and money which is the majority of supporters view as reflected on this forum.

Final ball was poor today, had some great moves break down with a bad final ball/wrong decision.

Just one of those days though. Some days it will click and sometimes it won't.

I don’t think it’s that bad. We just have a lot of play at that end of the pitch and some sticks and some doesn’t.

Would you say any of the teams we’ve played so far were better in the final third? Maybe QPR?

Always harder to make the perfect pass when 4-6 players are desperately trying to lunge in and shut you down

I’m convinced we’d be at least 2 maybe 3 goals better off if there were more shots from outside the box.

Definitely. Just off the top of my head Hamer on Wednesday and Sheaf today both had golden chances to shoot.

It’s a good sign that we’re playing so well, getting good results and can still see areas for improvement though.

We're creating more chances than most other championship teams, are we not? So I don't think it's the passing in the final third (where you have to try unexpected things anyway to unlock defences etc)

It's more the finish / us overplaying on occasions (no shade on the strikers intended who have all been doing a decent enough job).

We missed Dabo today IMO. He’s one of our better players for consistently delivering in the final third.

Kane looked reliable defensively today but utterly hopeless going forward. The difference in quality between Dabo and Kane is staggering but hopefully Kane will do a job as a back up.

Quite a few goals today shots from the edge, rubbish shots getting deflections and going in. Not least the milwall equaliser

Call it dark arts but I’ve noticed our forward players fall over so easily. Always looking for a foul - I know O’Hare is the most fouled player but there are times where he just stops expecting the free kick.

I noted 1 point where he got niggled but still had the ball in the second half - could have playedin Viktor but stood there moaning. There are times where we should be trying to play through the foul

Definitely. There were times today that I disagreed with FK’s that were awarded to us. Gyokeres towards the end of the game threw himself over a couple of times and it was waved away, rightly so. Maybe out of tiredness.

O’Hare is one for winning free kicks but tbh I think the plain, petty dives outweigh the genuine calls for a foul.

We seem to / are good at getting the ball into the penalty area, but we'd shoot on sight a bit more because of this!

I thought O’Hare was pretty poor today. He really lacks that final ball, he’s really snatching at things and I’ve been thinking it quite a bit this season but didn’t want to be a negative Nancy when everyone’s on a high. If he could add goals and assists to his game he would be worth £6m easy

If he could score he'd be worth an awful lot more than £6m.

We drew… away from home. Imagine if we’d lost. It just says a lot about the mindset of people where fixating on a negative aspect seems to be the norm. You didn’t want to bring up our quick counter-attacking or a stand-out performance. Yeah, I know we can all have opinions… but the negative ones, when we’ve got a point at a pretty hard place to go, just seem rather pointless.

Agreed.
And if anyone wants a sense of perspective, on this day in September 2017 we lost 2-1 to Cambridge United which left us around 10th in League 2.
Today we are joint 2nd in the Championship and that's been achieved without real funds and playing away from home for a significant amount of time.
The turn-around has been nothing short of sensational and I'm out of plaudits at this time for Robins and his staff.

Absolutely delighted with the start we’ve made, beyond our dreams for this season so far, let’s be honest. More than happy with a point at a tough place to go especially as they scored a 2. The guy who headed it in wasn’t offside, the guy in front of him was.

For me, the progression is there to see. We’re going up in levels at a rapid pace. Off the ball, on the ball, passing style, identity, ethos etc, it’s Barcelona esque at times.
Finishing is our only missing jigsaw piece. We’ve won 6 but by the odd goal apart from Boro which id take but we are missing chances. Thing is, if our strikers were deadly, we wouldn’t have them long would we?
All we can do is keep developing. I’d be more worried if we weren’t creating chances at all.
