Robins clearly didn't rate Collins, and the reason for that seems pretty obvious now. He shut him out the squad. Robins was never scared of making changes from one game to the next. Why is Collins still getting picked? It's the action of a manager who doesn't know what they're doing. Is it because Lampard doesn't trust a young keeper? Lampard hasn't done anything so far, to alleviate the concerns of those who didn't want him here.

Carr obviously bums him and Lampard is using Carr to lean on while he gets to know the squad.

Hopefully he knows the squad enough now.

Makes no sense, he does play or even get to the bench all season, when he does we concede goals for fun. Lampard/Carr/Williams have had long enough.

What’s Dovin doing in training to not even get a look?!

A cynic might say it’s the Chelsea link but surely not. I expect him to be dropped Boxing Day, barring a huge issue with Dovin that hasn’t been leaked.

Because jobs for the boys, Collins is ex Chelsea. If Lampard was ex Crewe we would have Barry Bennell in net.

Nepotism gets you fuck all in football, but Doug King wouldn’t understand that with being given his dad’s rapeseed oil business.

Wilson is obviously Fwanks first choice, he's been bigging him up because of his 'character'. Collins was just a stop gap until Wilson was fit again.

Dovin must be incredibly bad in training. Looking to be a gigantic waste of money if he can’t get in the side ahead of a keeper doesn’t make any saves.

Put Courtois in goal, we still gonna conceed every week. Binks, Dasilva, Thomas should be nowhere near the Championship.

Collins alongside the 3 above are the reason why Robins was sacked, the reason why we are in a relegation scrap.

We need a completely new centre back pair, a brand new left back , all 3 being Championship level, and give either Wilson or Dovin the job in goal.

He rated him enough to bring him in and play him ahead of Wilson, who had just had his best season for us. Buck stops with Robins I'm afraid .

He wasn't playing him this season though.
There must have been a reason for that.

No Wilson kept the shirt, Collins was on the bench for the first 15 games of the season and only came in after a few Wilson errors.

Then he started this season as 3rd choice.

Collins was brought in as a replacement for Moore who was let go and told to find another club

If people are starting to think Wilson is the preferred option then we are in trouble as he is terrible as well.

Seen a few on Twitter say we should not have let go of Moore. Jesus fucking Christ…short memories. Was terrible start of play off season and equally terrible when he came back v Wrexham.

He is however, still better than Collins.

He made mistakes in a few games but was written off entirely after a very encouraging first season with us. He now plays for a team in the top six. Oh well.

He was quite rightly replaced by Wilson and that was a massive contributor to our turn in form.

Collins has been getting away with it now for far too long and we wonder why nothing has changed.

I do agree with what you’re saying re: Moore, but it’s a bit of a half truth if you’re not going to mention that he is very much a second choice goalkeeper for a top 6 team and only played when Patterson was injured!

I think the reason was that horrendous run of errors he had last season where his head looked to have completely gone. I always got the sense with Robins that he'd stick with certain players for quite a long time but once they'd lost his trust they were done

He was essentially chucking it in his own goal last season. Played at Sunderland by default, didn’t do anything spectacular then kept his place even after Dovin was fit.

I haven’t seen a worse City keeper since Fabian Debec

Like Sunderland, I would have him as a second choice keeper at the very least - in fact he’d be my current first choice. But our coaches (and fans!) collectively decided he wasn’t even worth a place on our bench. Oh well.

I can’t really remember Moore that well for us, but remember he seemed confident and came for crosses more than anyone else we’ve had in recent years.

Pretty sure he (Moore) had made a couple of errors and then was out of the team? When you think about Collins so far, it’s pretty mad that he’s got another chance really.

Robins bought Collins to be our number 1 keeper. He apparently was impressed with the Barnsley league 1 defence following their relegation.
Robins took chopping and changing to new heights and had no clue what his best 11 was.
I assume Lampard was trying to find a stable 11 after a few half decent performances and build confidence. I can understand that.

What I won't understand is if he plays Collins ever again.

Was Wilson really that bad. He made some incredible saves but like everyone of our keepers was prone to the odd mistake. Golden glove winner and I don't buy it was all down to the defence.
Collins is a liability and was part of the Barnsley side along with Kitchen who got relegated.
Dovin has done nothing wrong really but looks like a kid who is playing his first game and lacking experience.
I personally hope Frank puts Wilson back in and he sticks with him because hes the best we have at the moment

Wasn’t it shown on here that Wilson statistically faced far less shots that season, proving that it was actually largely down to the defence?

There is certainly an argument to be had for him organising the defence though.

He was dropped down after he jumped out the way of a shot away at Cardiff. Wilson has only played around 10-15 senior games more than Dovin despite being 10 years older.

Get dovin in behind MVE Thomas Kitching and Bidwell and stick with it especially if we can’t bring in another centre half in Jan and we really don’t need a kid.
