We may of been better equipped to do good business in January if we'd of been getting more fans through the turnstiles at the Ricoh.

We're not so did the business we did which looks worse by the game

I disagree here Steve. Despite all the off the field stuff, we still manage to attract players here, like Jones, Andreu, McDonald etc when they could all have gone to better clubs. I suspect it's a money thing and we can't/won't offer as much as others for certain players.

I did say some other players maybe if we had a well run club and a place to play for years it may have swayed some players who were in 2 minds

Willis, McNulty, Bayliss, Davies ,Doyle, Jones, Definately good enough
McDonald, Grimmer, Stokes, Shipley, Biamou, JP - possibly (Will get better)

Not good enough:

DKE twins, Kelly, Beavon, Burge, Obrian, Maycock, Haynes,

Andreu - will reserve judgement till I see more of him.

Some of the players that are not really good enough to make the first team would be OK on the bench as squad players, depends if they want that?

It is also true to say that is is usually better to have some stability in the squad rather than making wholesale changes that could backfire.

Finally, there is still no certainty we will get promoted, it is only looking possible at the moment, not even probable!

As was saying you stopped reading at 'Willis at RB'. Almost like you were saying that me suggesting he'd make a better RB than Grimmer was your final straw in my apparent lack of football knowledge and couldn't be bothered to read on. If my thread isn't good enough for you/to boring to read, don't post on it!

Bottom line is if they're not good enough for league one they're not good enough to get promotion.

If Willis is the best right back you've seen here, then I assume you're either quite young or old enough to have cataracts. He's a centre-back who can play on the right in an emergency. Whether he's a good centre-back or not is a different question.

And stop being so defensive. Christ, even I don't agree with half the things I say. It's just the internet.

I've never once said hes the best RB I've seen here. He's better than the 2 current ones we have but far from the best I've seen here.
I did say the closest we've been to promotion in my lifetime he played at RB. That doesn't mean I think he's the best RB I've seen.

Because Grimmer is out, not because he's first choice.

I'm not suggesting otherwise, just pointing to the fact that he's playing RB.

That's because DKE was clearly not fit and hadn't played but got put in and Willis is the only real option to play there.

Grimmer Willis Davis McNulty Jones are good enough. You’d keep the young players and see how they develop. Andreu hasn’t played enough.

The rest are never going to be good enough.

Agree with that-but jury still out on Jones as couldn’t do it in L1 last year, but worth another shot I guess.
You keep the young players-I guess that’s Bayliss and Shipley and that’s about it.
Yep, major surgery needed if the unlikely happens and we do go up-but will we have a competitive budget to survive? Think we all know the answer to that......

Did you not see Willis in L1 last year? Out of his depth at right back and most times at centre back too.

They are all League 2 players or below, hence why we are only ‘hoping’ to make the playoffs.

It’s a bit of a moot point because we’ve built a squad for L2. Doyle being the epitome of that - great L2 player at this stage of his career. The question should be, is this team good enough to get out of L2? At full fitness, without a doubt.

You’ve basically listed half the starting lineup though, and I think you could add Bayliss to that list too. You could probably add McDonald, Stokes, JCH and Andreu if you’re being optimistic. We need to improve in a couple of areas, but we’ve built this squad over one summer (a point I’m going to relentlessly repeat to keep this conversation in perspective).

I think this season’s squad is better than last season’s, and had we sorted the managerial situation as soon as Mowbray resigned, we’d have probably avoided relegation.
