But see I would've thought these latest chants would merit the same response. Duh!

If you're referring to the hompophobic chanting then I am inclined to agree, but if you're referring to my original quote then I disagree, the keeper (Richard Lee - I think?) was quite receptive to it and as I said applauded the City fans after the game.

I've done this several times before and it's never been a problem, I even got a laugh out of Scott Flinders and Owain-Fon Williams!

Actually, thinking about it, this might be a complete misread and be an historical story.

I'm sure that Justin Fashanu once had his picture, going in for a header in the Saturday night's CT after match sports edition.

If people didn't know who he was, that might explain the 'who's the gay boy in the Pink' comment.

Slightly off topic, talking about what the fans sing and chant, what is everyone's opinion of our support home and away nowadays?

Let me know if you think we can improve the support in a certain way and I'll try to filter it to the vocal supporters so they have an idea of what it would take for other fans to join and enjoy.

So what was the point of the above question? If you're going to post stuff, make sure it makes sense eh?

Don’t get that one. There’s a Spurs song about Verghoten (sp?) and his massive cock.

I suppose it’s racist if you’re assuming he has a massive cock because he’s black. But in say the case of Dion Dublin, where we had independent verification of his massive cock would it still be racist?

I don't think I would be that bothered if 75,000 people were signing that I had a massive cock to be fair.

I try to put myself in his shoes to imagine how I'd feel, but I'd need to get much bigger shoes by the sounds of it.

I doubt the goalie was deeply traumatised by the immature ribbing, it's not exactly a case of vicious, vindictive homophobic targeting is it?

Chalk it up to a few who are a day late and a brain short, the same lot who have to keep score on their fingers.

If the keeper is not homosexual, then it's not "hate speech" or discriminatory behaviour. It's like calling your mate a "gayboy" for jumping a puddle, or something.

Do you not think that the use of such gutter language might be quite offensive on a public forum that is frequented by children and women?

The problem with political correctness is that you can offend without meaning to. Calling someone blind when they prefer visually impaired, calling someone coloured instead of black (hi Dad!), calling someone small instead of vertically challenged. The words aren't the important thing - what is important is the intent. If you mean to be offensive with your words, then you deserve to be called out for it. If it is just that the terminology has changed and you're ignorant of it, then a conversation is all it needs. This particular chant is meant to offend, which is why it isn't accepted by most posters on here.

While I'm here, I'd like to say my favourite chant was at Villa Park to Stan Collymore, when we sang 'If you've all shagged Ulrika clap your hands'. He turned, looked at us, and clapped. And that, ladies and gentlemen, was the best possible way to respond.

It's all jolly good to see how tolerant society is now

Shall we dig out a few threads and see who said what about Nikki Sinclair?

When you call a mate gay boy for doing something stupid, weak ect,
That is suggesting that been gay is something stupid weak ect.
When chanting at the goalkeeper who is the Gayboy in the pink. We are not doing it because we want to compliment the goalie we are taking the piss out of him suggesting he is gay.
The suggestion been he would not want to be called gay
I.e. Gay = lesser person.

He played for Millwall, he probaly smirked at it (at most) and forgot about it within seconds.

Meanwhile on SBT, the outrage rumbles on 4 days later.

It wasn't even that funny a chant anyway. Those shouting gayboy at David Forde were probably the same gimps that paid £50 for that lame white plastic top we were wearing last season.

On reflection I'd like to retract that last remark, I don't want to cause offence to the ever growing gimp division of Sky Blues Talk
I'm sure @Earlsdon_Skyblue1 will be preparing his next witch hunt as we speak!
