Has anyone got any data regarding Simms scoring record in different formations?

Looking at this season, it's poor in every formation.

Looking at last season he went something like 25 games without scoring, then went on a purple patch (like Mcnulty did) then stopped scoring for some reason.

Tbf to the lad, he's not been helped by this backward, sideways backwards style that Lampard wants to play, and I cant understand why Sakamoto and EMC have stopped trying to beat the fullback and instead look to pass backwards instead.
Is that their instructions, or have they lost confidence?

It must be hard for any CF when there's no early ball in to the box behind the defence to create chances

And it's doubly hard for Simms who has little anticipation and the touch of a donkey.

Yes a purple patch does typically last 6 months and 32 games.

It has to be Simms, the problem is no takers.

I’d sell Wright from the list above. Fires on all cylinders far to infrequently for my liking and tbh we kind of got by ok when he was injured.

Equally I think the starting teams a weaker one when Rudoni and MVE are absent. So it’s Wright for me.

20 goal a season players are rare and he would have certainly got that this season if he'd not got injured.

Plus extend the three player’s contracts. Additional 1 year option added to their contracts for exchange of one off payments.

That may not be as important this time around. In theory we dont have as much surgery to do on the squad overall. I also suspect if Lampard wants loans then he has more chance of persuading King to get them.

Well let's just agree he had 1 successful season in his career then, all be it at league 2.

He should of stayed here, where he was loved, and where MR made him into a decent striker.
Maybe another year of coaching would of turned him into a higher level player and earnt him more money/success in the long run. I'm sure he could of done a lot better than Reading ffs, but We will never know.

Keeping on topic ... Much like Mcnulty, simms appears to be going backwards after his epic scoring run.

To answer the thread title: none

If we're in the championship I'd want the squad to look like this

GK: Loan/Dovin/Wilson
RB: MVE/New signing
CB: Thomas/Kitching/Binks/New signing
LB: New signing/Dasilva
CM: Grimes/Torp/Rudoni/Eccles/Allen/New signing
LW: Wright/EMC
ST: Simms/Bassette
RW: Sakamoto/New signing

Don't mind if sheaf goes. That's 6 new signings but only 2/3 of those will be first choices and the keeper should definitely be a loan.

Between Vik and Sheaf we should raise £10m+ which should easily cover that

I'd be playing Wright as a central striker

Ideal is we keep all 3 and go into the new season looking a bit like this (inputted my own choice on signings)

Gunn / Dovin / Wilson
MvE / RB
Thomas / Darling
Burgess / Kitching
Lewis / Dasilva
Grimes / Allen
Sheaf / Kyprianou
Rudoni / Torp / Paterson
Sakamoto / Dolan
Riis / Simms / BTA
Wright / EMC

Thats all free agents minus the RB which the sale of Lati, Eccles, Binks, Bidwell and Collins gives money for Wages, Compensation and Bonuses. Also potential extensions for some players, then we just need to sign a RB maybe Ngakia from Watford might be able to get him for around 1 or 2 million. Players not mentioned loaned out

He’s better than Collins and Wilson, experienced at this level and he’d settle for being backup to Dovin when Dovin comes back fully fit

No premier league sides that for sure

With us having the year option on him his value will still be around the 7-8 million mark

Add the Vik sell on of around 5 -6 million and that's easily enough pocket money to add what we need whilst not losing any of the crown jewels

Burroughs, Howley, Tavares, Tyler all being released also, Allen and Paterson unsure

We Should have around 12 million without selling (bar Sheaf) which in my view is easily enough to get in what we need

Expect to see Bidwell go, same for BTA and the keepers (not Dovin)

Latibeaudiere over Binks imo. Can cover right back and midfield at an absolute push.

I think he’s better than Binks. Binks has to go this summer

I don't think we'll be getting 5-6m for Vik. He does have a €100m release clause which would yield us £5.4m, but most reports have him going at approx £60m. If that's true then we only have 10% of the profit and need to give 15% of that to Brighton. So £4m less 15% means only £3.4m for us sadly.

Not belittling your statement at all but £3.4 ought to be getting us a very good Championship player (we hope)

He will want to be a first choice considering he's fairly young still, scottish international keeper and played a full season at Norwich

Without a doubt, Haji.
Luxury player.
On his day he can rip any team in this league apart, but way too many matches where he offers very little. His misses against Burnley (a simple volleyed finish from Da Silva's cross) and Plymouth (header) were shocking. Had Simms or BTA missed those we'd be lambasting them.
I think he'd actually be more effective in the Premiership. If we need to sell in the summer, and someone bids £12-15million, I'd let him go.
