Wright would be my choice if we could get 15m but just don't see it - MvE will be the one with the interest if Sheaf doesn't go and he deserves a shot at the Prem tbf

Regarding Sheaf - I'm struggling to see the market for him. Southampton & Luton could be still interested - but I doubt he'd go to the latter.

Who else is there - Ipswich? Sheff U? Birmingham if they splash the cash?

No premier league sides that for sure

With us having the year option on him his value will still be around the 7-8 million mark

Add the Vik sell on of around 5 -6 million and that's easily enough pocket money to add what we need whilst not losing any of the crown jewels

Burroughs, Howley, Tavares, Tyler all being released also, Allen and Paterson unsure

We Should have around 12 million without selling (bar Sheaf) which in my view is easily enough to get in what we need

Expect to see Bidwell go, same for BTA and the keepers (not Dovin)

I don't think we'll be getting 5-6m for Vik. He does have a €100m release clause which would yield us £5.4m, but most reports have him going at approx £60m. If that's true then we only have 10% of the profit and need to give 15% of that to Brighton. So £4m less 15% means only £3.4m for us sadly.

Presumably promotion should it happen affects whether Sheaf leaves or not?

Wright, Doesn't produce it over a whole season, when he's good he's brilliant, but those days are few and far between. 1 in 3? Completely anonymous when he's off it. EMC is a ready made replacement, not at the level of Wright yet but getting there, an injury free pre season and a run of games, he'll be a big player for us next season IMO. Also means we can start to bulk out other areas of the squad with developing players without having to go big on a replacement.

I think we all would, but that is why Simms is worth next to nothing.

I’m a bit surprised by some of the comments about Wright, blowing hot and cold is generally the nature of even good forwards at this level.

He has the best min/goal ratio in the league for players with 10+ goals

Rather gather some funds by selling the likes of BTA, Simms, Eccles. Spend out on 2 or 3 and just be smarter in the free transfer market with the rest.

How much do you realistically get for those 3? We’d struggle to get anything for BTA, maybe £2m for Simms and Eccles is hard to price but again, can’t see more than £2-3m.

sales would have to be (if in the prem)
wilson
collins
binks
bidwell
eccles
paterson (release)
simms
bta
rod (loan)
bassette (loan)

would be a huge rebuild if by some miracle we got promoted

Last season we fizzled out after exiting the FA cup. Fatigue etc all blamed. This season, we really have something to play for until the end and we seem to be suffering the same apathy, even if it has started later in the season. Only Rudoni and Grimes are new recruits that are currently in the team and they are arguably our current best players. Wright seems totally disinterested for some reason and Simms has completely gone AWOL, arguably even more so since Wright has come back into the team. Any coincidence with Sheaf coming back into the team and regaining the captaincy? Any conclusions to draw?

I think you might be surprised. From what i can gather teams were prepared to give us our money back for BTA in Jan (if an ITK could confirm?) Reckon Simms would go for similar and Eccles i guess it depends how much someone wants him. With the market as it and based on what we've heard about BTA honestly think it could average out at about £3 million each. Less for the likes of Lati, Binks, Bidwell who i'd also move on and could easily be replaced with freebies.

True he may not go for the full whack, but there isnt only 1 show in town for him so that will bump the price up

Also, the sell on to Brighton was paid in the original sale, we don't owe them anything now

So better with a partner which is probably true of most strikers, albeit not necessarily best for the team.

As much as he's been a key player, I'd have to say it'd be MVE. To replace Rudoni would be a much harder ask. Especially at the price we'd be willing to pay. Granted, FL could use his chelsea contacts and bring in a loan, but one that'll fit straight in and replace Rudoni is less likely. With players like Cyrus Christie becoming a free agent this summer, granted he's no MVE but has a little PL experience and has been promoted out of this league, I think we can find a RB replacement easier than a striker and/or a creative midfielder.

I also think MVE will go on to bigger and better things, with no disrespect to Wright, I think we're likely to get a bigger sell on clause with MVE when he moves on from whomever we sell him to than Wright would get.

Some bizarre takes about Wright, our biggest goal threat and the biggest goal threat in the division statistically. It is very rare that a team improves the season after losing its top goalscorer at most levels.

Surely we don't have a sell on-sell on clause with Brighton? They'll of had their money from.the original sale? If we bought a striker with a double sell on clause then some words are needed with the back room staff.
Though I agree, he's highly unlikely to sell for the top value of his release clause. I see him at more £40-60m than his £80m release.

I don't have the inside track and Saddle said above we paid it, but not sure how we covered that off. In the same way as Madders and Wilson moved on we still got more.

Conclusion is that he has got an excellent scoring record when we play 3 centre backs and a terrible one we play a back 4.

While it sounds like a decent plan.

The only issues I can see is A who buys Sheaf for that much if no prem team is circling and B who do we sell our Keepers too. Wilson i could see but can’t see any team looking at Collins atm and thinking he’d be a decent pick up especially with the coverage around him against Luton.

I woudnt want to part with any of these three TBH. There are other candidates which can russle up a few millions such as BTA and dare I say it, Eccles
