The councillor who valued the councils stake of ACL at 24 million?

I seem to recall Bob Ainsworth putting a silly value on it too. Still, they all raised a glass when they received their whopping cheque for £2.77 million from a bunch of smug, opportunist egg chasers from London. Just a 250 year lease too. Hoorah for local democracy.

Probably shuffled the papers on the desk and quoted their expenses claim by mistake

It was David Gindey former CE of ACL, and it wasnt for ACL just to buy matchday access to Food and Beverages IIRC

There is two values though really, what someone is willing to pay for something and what it costs to build something, what someone was willing to pay is 5 million ish (and taking on the companies 14mill liabilities) but if someone wanted to build something like the Ricoh then 24mil for half of it is probably cheap. It makes sisus plan to build look ridiculous when it's going to cost massively more than the wasps paid for the ricoh and it's going to be much worse and in a worse location and won't have the reputation and business already built up.

If sisu really were willing to put 20-50mill into the club then we'd already own the ricoh and we'd already be back in the championship, but they arn't willing to do so and surely after 18 months of being told the same nonsence EVERYONE should have realised this by now.

Of course, when you look at it in those terms, it makes no sense at all. It always made more sense to buy into the Ricoh, and had they behaved properly, the opportunity to do exactly that would have presented itself at some point.

But that ship has sailed, in fact the prospects of Ricoh ownership went for good the moment they packed their bags for Northampton (and probably long before that).

Madness. But, given where we are NOW, I see little option than to build a new ground - because the alternative is a future in the bottom two divisions being "cashflow positive" with no realistic prospect of anybody stepping in to end our nightmare. If SISU want to build a new home for us, and it's financed sensibly and sustainably, well then they should just get on with it.

They burnt their bridges with higgs and the council certainly but they could have doubled wasps offer and it still would have been much more financially viable than building a new stadium. Higgs and CCC may hate sisu with every fiber of their beings (it's a perfectly reasonable feeling) they both still would have taken 10mill + loan from sisu over 5mill + loan from wasps and that still would have been much much better financially then building themselves.

Building a new ground just can't work as things stand, it's a much worse thing to do than just paying rent, the additional revenues just arn't going to be enough to offset the costs as things stand. You just can't find someone like Tesco to help you pay for it now, there is too many supermarkets, too many out of town shopping areas that can't be filled. They have never attempted to properly explain how this new stadium will work because they simply can't do so. I would love more than anything for us to own our own ground but the financials don't stack up. The only way it happens is with a rich sugar daddy.

Even Wasps have been struggling to find the investors they needed.
So why would anyone invest in a stadium in the middle of no where with no public transport little support and a partner that will sue you at the drop of a hat? Cloud cuckoo land.
Mind you Tim said we will hear soon hope soon is closer then the three weeks we have been waiting?
