I would always consider myself very UNLUCKY to get really old one day.![]()
Really? My first thought was that it was Troutface, but then I remembered that was my first mother in law.If that was the German Man City goalkeeper his name was Bert Trautmann![]()
Well they are quite similar names.I
i’ve always thought (or assumed) that Bob Wesson was in goal for my first game, which was on the 6 April 1963, at home to Halifax Town. The score was 5-4 to City, with a George Hudson hat-trick, the other goals scored by Dietmar Bruck and Jimmy Whitehouse. BUT - the 11v11 record shows that our goalkeeper that day was a Dave Meeson, whose name, in the mists of time, has completely escaped me! Blimey, all this time I’d thought it was Bob Wesson! Another interesting fact from this game is the attendance, at 19,632, was pretty good, I would have thought, for a division 3 game.
Is that a euphemism and is it why everyone started talking about it?I was there for the 2nd one. I still have vision of Dion’s telescopic leg clearing one off the line.
Wow, how amazing it must of been to see one of the greatest goalkeepers in the history of the game in one goal, . ... and Gordon Banks in the other!I ought to point out that the Stoke goalkeeper that day was Gordon Banks

Before my time but my dad always insisted Lev Yashin was the best keeper of all time.We all agree
Bill Glazier is better than Yashin
Neil Martin is better than Eusebio
And Stoke are in for a thrashing![]()
He certainly was .
Is that his first international cap?
