Don't know if you caught it but Leon Clarke was quite damning of some of the younger players today in his post match interview with bbc C&W.

He said some of the players need to grow up and stop making mistakes.

But who is he on about?

I feel the young defenders Adams and Christie where decent today and have been fairly consistent this year?

He also said they had a game plan at the start to press when Peterborough got close but he didn't agree with it.

I heard it- I don't think Leon was being overly critical.. just a general rallying call to the youngster to "man up"..... a general chivvy up if you ask me rather than a specific criticism of any one individual....although the Jorden Clarke witch hunt society might disagree!!!

i would seriously hope that it is a message to all players to buy into the SP idea,
rather than take the easy route of an alleged proposed contractual offer,
that, of course, is assuming our owners will stay true to their word,
mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Well he is right isn't he? I'd say 90% of our goals against our from our errors and not good play from the opposition.

he said he didn't agree with the original tactics we used to start the game, and younger players need to grow up a bit. Are we getting itchy feet Leon ?

SP said he tried a deeper press which makes sense against a free scoring high flying Peterborough side. Obviously that didn't end up working so we switched back. I am surprised though that Clarke has come out and said he didn't agree with the tactics. Bit naughty that.

I get the feeling he could become a difficult player if things aren't going his way. Like when he came out and said he was disappointed when he didn't start the other week when Pressley rested him.

I think people are reading to much into this regarding Leon, the way you have to look at it is the attacking players we posses in Leon, Callum, etc have done really well this season, they must feel frustrated at times watching so many silly goals be conceded.

The tactics comment may seem naughty but remebering that Leon is one of the senior players in the squad, if Leon doesn't come out and say it's not working and we continue to be mauled over then what is the point in having leaders on the pitch?

It's obvious we sat back yesterday in the first half and you can understand SP's thinking behind it, but I am glad we reverted back to pressing high up.

Robbo bless you you see the good in everyone, but "old Leon ", has had more clubs than tiger woods, given our problems, his form , there will be offers , let's hope his wandering days are done.

Clarke didn't particularly said he didn't agree with the tactics. Just mentioned that we didn't play well in the first half as we were trying a different approach by using deeper pressing tactic however we were much better after we reverted to our usual High pressing. Clarke mentioned that some lads need to take responsibility for their jobs and Pressley was in a similar wavelength in his post match interview : '' We've gone back and looked at the goals we've conceded over the season to try and find trends and the truth is its about taking responsibility as individuals and players to not let your man score. It's about dealing with the one-on-one's better and I said at half time we needed to be better and i thought we were. We were aggresive in our tackles and we went on to create so many chances.''

Everyone realises that if we manage to iron out the defensive errors we can be a very good team and we will be up there near the top of this league as our attacking threat is one of the best in this division.

True, Leon has had a lot of clubs but here at City he is adored and has a fantastic goal record in the Sky Blue shirt, I hope he stays and Leon and Callum can be the top end of the spear that helps us achieve promotion.

He clearly gets on with SP and has lots of time for the fans, despite that side of being a footballer visually making him uncomfortable. Why risk losing that at this stage in his career?

sounds similar situation to a certain mr mcgoldrick.. if someone comes in from a higher league, bigger bucks, i think he will be off. no hard feelings, thats the business of the game.

He is too good for division 3. He won't be on a big wage. The only reason he is with us is because of the problems he has had in the past with previous managers. To keep him we will need to get promoted and also have a manager he can get on well with.....and hope he has come to his senses with his outspoken style. He could end up being one of them players that wreck a promising career if he can't keep his cool.

one thing ive noticed this season is the chances missed ,and one player who drops his head very easily and goes of the boil .totally understand about our defence but it works both ways ,strikers seeing mistakes costing goals ,defenders seeing chances missed ,.best if players keep their opinions to the dressing room / training ground.

Ha you are kidding. He has missed chances but he certainly does not let his head drop. If his head drops how do you explain the fact he is the leading goalscorer in this league?

There are key differences. DMG was on loan and, really had little control over his fate. He is also younger than Leon and, although he struggled at Forest, he has had no where near the turbulent career Leon has.

Whilst I agree he is too good for this division, I'm not sure he's good enough for the Championship.

Whilst I agree he is too good for this division, I'm not sure he's good enough for the Championship.

He would still score goals in the Championship. But at a guess I would say he would go from about the best in the division to above average. He looks as though he will get over 30 this season if he don't pick up a bad injury. So should manage between 15 and 20 in the Championship.

Bare in mind all those great goals scorers we've signed in the past who, yes have had goals in them to signing for us and getting under 10... I can't help but think he's fit into that category.

He is only playing at this level because of him falling out with previous managers. Hopefully he has finally learned his lesson or he now has a manager that can handle him.

He actually says "Me personally I didn't think it worked very well" If you watch the video of the interview.

Doesn't matter anyway really.

I suppose all it really shows is that the official website have either used a different interview or are editing things to make it sound better.

I think he os on about the likes of Seaborne not taking a Yellw/Red for the team when the Swindon striker got away. The youngsters willalso fight shy as well because they dont want to lose their place in the team. There are a few players on 4 yellows that are hedging their bets as well cos knowing if they can get to January 1st then they lose their booking totals and start again
