Gus’s stats clearly shows he should be playing top flight football.

Basically we should wreck Derby to make ourselves feel better.

Hamer was the lynchpin for the team and arguably, more important than Gyokeres. What has clearly held other teams back from buying him is his temperament; that certainly affected Rangers’ interest.
It looks as if Hamer has made an unaffordable pay demand, possibly as part of an attempt to force to move, which is a pity.

Tom Davies would be an intriguing signing and add a little bit of PL experience to a Coventry squad that looks exciting but unproven. His wages would definitely be a problem. If we could afford Davies, then we should be able to afford Hamer’s demands.

Davies would also know Simms, from their time together at Everton.

Not sure who could replace Gus , he covered the pitch top to bottom, his energy and vision to read every game was something that only a few could achieve.
we should retire the number 38 he won’t be replaced in my lifetime.

We should have retired it when the goal machine Jordan Ponticelli left - it was a devastating day which took me a long time to recover from

He's not but he is the heart of the team and it would have been nice to have a bit longer to figure it out if he's gonna be off.

I just dont see the logic of him signing an extension. In 6 months he can negotiate a deal as a free agent.

If that’s his plan that’s possibly why he hasn’t and won’t sign not a lot the club can do about it other than play him.

Least yesterday showed he will give his all if this scenario happens.

On an individual basis I think he probably is (irreplaceable). It is highly unlikely we will find someone that brings everything he brings to the team from the off for the fee we are likely to bring in. Sure he only cost us a million, our scouting network seems good we might get lucky but it is doubtful.

That said when it comes down to it football is about scoring more goals than the opposition. I don't think him leaving will cause our defence to fall apart but if you look at the goals and assists of him and Vic - they were involved in probably 80/90% of our goals. And we didn't score that many.

Simms was a good start but we are very reliant on him being epic and scoring heaps of goals in his first season. I'd be looking more at the second striker than a like for like replacement.

Exactly, if that's what he wants we simply can't stop him, and as long as he gives his all we're not going to drop him either. Unfortunately, we may just have to take it on the chin.

I’ve been to two of the friendlies he has played in & watched yesterdays on telly and he hasn’t shown anything other than 100%, commitment, hasn’t been as aggressive as he can be but that’s expected in those types of games.

We had never heard of Hamer before he came here. Some unknown in continental Europe or lower league could replace him...its not a case of looking for "knowns". But...not may diamonds out there so would be difficult. We can't let him go for nothing though

Hw came on to the field yesterday and looked like a guy who knew he was better than anyone on there. He then proceeded to own it.
Would be great to keep him but he's simply outgrown us.

How did Styles do at Millwall? Didn't he play left wingback quite a bit? Thought they had an option on him for £4m

O’brien is quality but I doubt we would meet the salary expectations but he definitely needs to get away from forest even on loan.

The next few months will be pivotal for the recruitment team. They have started scouting areas we have not traditionally been associated with. They could all be at the level and the model could be about to really take off. But there is a pessimistic part of me that thinks without Hamer and the spine with Vik and McFadz being a year older there needs to be a fluidity found quite quickly as the games will keep coming and most weeks is a big game if you want to be the right end of the table. I am really excited and I hope the new lads will hit the ground running but Gus is huge as he binds it all together and I really hope the club can agree a one year extension with a huge promotion bonus to keep it inside the wage structure.

People saying sell Hamer and bring in 2-3 players , well that’s all good and well but we can only replace Gus on the pitch with one player . Great for depth I agree but who the fuck is out there that could do what he does week in week out? And if there was a like for like or as near as dam it they’re already playing for someone
