The man is nigh on irreplaceable but who could be the closest we can get?

For me, Lewis O'Brien at Forest

Potentially sign a couple of players. Also covers for the loss of kelly in a season too

We can't play sheaf and Eccles or sheaf and Kelly together , it's just far too negative .. we need a proper box to box next to sheaf

Nobody will replace him, as is the way with Simms/Gyökeres.

However, we have Palmer looking excellent, Sheaf as good as he is and Eccles developing.

It would be great to use the Hamer money in the way we are with Vik. Bring in 2 or 3.

There'll be some player from the Dutch or Belgian league we've never heard of with a similar statistical profile.

That MLS player who was mentioned looked very Hamer-ish in his highlight video.

I don't think the replacement would be UK based.

Also, is it just me or is Sheaf changing his game to being more Gus like? He made multiple attacking runs to join the strikers today, tried to run with the ball as well from midfield.

Totally agree. Hamer created more chances in the the first 5 mins of coming on than anyone else the whole first half.

His dribbling on the ball has become so silky. Superb.

We could look at sibley again from derby, good age at 21

7 goals in 67 championship games

It will probably be a position we try and initially fill with a loan

He wasn’t even a guaranteed starter for Derby last season in League 1, in a way the early rise to prominence affected his career (4 of them goals were in his first 3 Championship games)

Il be honest it's a job for the scouting team as I have no idea who could replace him

I'm stumped. Im sad and spent the last 45 looking at stats based midfielders in the championship, league 1 etc that we can afford or are good enough

There's fucking no one and im not even being dramatic

We’d have to find someone playing abroad. He’s such a unique talent I don’t think you’ll replace like to for like just like Vik. Liam Walsh is probably the closest TBH in terms of style.

This is the answer. Maybe go all in on another striker instead.

One for Saddlebrains, Will Smallbone, he had a great game for Stoke last season

Probably someone from Holland or Belgium.
Seems there's where we've been scouting and good players regularly come out of both countries. Much better value than the English market too.

Nottingham Forest would want a big fee for him, he has 2 or 3 years left on his contract.

Wouldn't surprise me if the asking price is £10 million for O'Brien

Cant see any Dutch club paying that TBH. Have a feeling if he goes it’ll be cut price.

Carel Eiting, 25, FC Volendam. 3 goals, 10 assists last season in Eredivisie. 2.6 key passes per game.
Transfermarkt Value: €2.5m.

Adem Zorgane, 23, Charleroi. 4 goals, 8 assists last season in Jupiler Pro League. 12 caps for Algeria.
Transfermarkt value: €6m.

That's found in 5 minutes while making dinner. These players exist.

I was looking at championship and league 1 to make it easier to bed in..we need someone hitting the ground running, cant wait for someone to 'develop'

Cameron Brannagan is always a player I thought could easily step into the Championship. Baffles me he's still in league 1. 27 now, whether he's good enough for where we're at now is unclear but I can think of worse signings.

Said it before, he does the Job of two players, one defensive - key part in our defensive record and we know he drives our attacking play too.....
All whilst taking up only ONE space on the teamsheet.
We haven't got the cash, even if we pull in 15mil for him, to replace him/his quality in two areas of the pitch.

Close thread.

Sheaf is brilliant. Really wanted to see him and Gus at the middle of this quality team we're building.

There will be someone somewhere playing abroad, just have to find them. Devastated about Hamer though. My favourite ever City player. Walsh is a similar player but not as energetic and injuries have ruined him. O'brien is a fantastic player. Would take him tbf

Not sure who could replace Gus , he covered the pitch top to bottom, his energy and vision to read every game was something that only a few could achieve.
we should retire the number 38 he won’t be replaced in my lifetime.
