Think this type of thread has been done to death! We seem to have one of these post every couple of months or so.
There are so many age ranges on these forums that we all have our favourites but from different eras. My choice would be from the 1960's. That's all I'll bother to say.

GK Oggy

RB Nilsson
CB Kilcline
CB Babb
LB Pearce

RM Bennett
CM McCallister
CM Palmer
LW Froggat

CF Hartson
CF Keane.

It's difficult because I rated Peake as much as Kilcline, but I've tried to pick a team where one persons talent compliments another. Now I've put my team down I've remembered the brilliant David Speedie, but I think a Hartson/Keane combo would work better than Hartson/Speedie. The reason I went with Palmer above some better players is because his signing brought out the best in McCallister.

Colin Cameron was a defensive midfielder, you would have to go 4-5-1 or that team would get found out in the top flight.

Is it akin to being a fan of SISU if I think that David Bell, given a run of games and an upsurge in confidence (hopefully with more backing from the stands than he is normally given), can do a job in League 1? I am not a fan of David Bell, but I would obviously like him to turn a corner and improve with us.

Addition: I know I will get slated and this is just a football forum. He gets a few cries of derision throughout the crowd at bad passes, etc. but is not roundly booed. I just wonder if he knocked in a couple of goals, got a few more fans off his back, he might end up being on the team sheet through merit rather than desperation. Now an off form Clingan has gone, I am not sure who, on form, could spray a cross field pass with any more accuracy.

Only picked from players I've seen. Would stick Micky Quinn in front of Hartson actually.

Because these threads get boring. It's the same old thing time and again. Can't anyone think of something different?
I'll start: What's your all time favourite City line up? .............................. Oh bollocks!! It's been done already!

I have said this before but David Bell is probably one of the most skilful players we currently have.

No I am not joking - look at his first touch and layoffs not bad me thinks - unfairly maligned as mentioned above but I think he will shine for us next year - so you knockers out there get off his back and instead please give DB some encouragement - I think we will be pleasantly surprised.

Bell has to deliver this season, if he can't deliver in Lg1 his contract should be terminated!!!

he definitely has something, and deserves a fair chance with a decent run in the side.

That's the problem.

Players like Bell, Baker, McPake, Deegan, Hussey, Clingan, Eastwood etc, were always no better than League One players, but were lauded as great signings by many, and a sign of the spotting abilities of Coleman/Thorn/Ranson*(* delete as appropriate, depending on whether player any good or not and current popularity)

Some said if we keep on signing League One quality players then it is where we will end up, and ultilmately where we will stay, unless we have a manager who can generate outperformance from the players.

Don't think that we have.

Reckon your lot could beat my lot, even with a midfielder up front. I can only think you really rated Dowie & Adams judgement!

Yeah, I suppose it creates interest for those fairly new to the forum. There's certainly a lot of difference of opinions on who would line-up though. There have been so many greats through the club - and some not so great - I find it hard to make a final selection. Every time I look through other folks choices I think "Bloody hell, I forgot him!" and then I'm back to square one!
