You’ve bought your club from the worst owners in its history. You’ve invested in its infrastructure and made a bold decision to get a new coaching set up in which has paid off. You’ve managed to get cash for some very dubious players and you’ve even achieved the previously impossible by buying the stadium that has eluded your club for 20 years. You’re walking on water right? Keys to the City time. No……you’re getting harangued for not picking up a series of overpriced unproven chancers.

I’ve had my frustrations with Doug King but today is not one of those moments
Sure if we get injuries to Wright Rudoni grimes emc saka Thomas and Kitching we’ll be struggling but the only questionable decision for me was allowing sheaf to leave so close to the end of the window and on balance we got £6m more than we paid and I think I’d have done it too

The young kids will come back better for the loan out. Perry and Andrews will be pushing in 1st team sessions with quality players to get into squads... And by the next window Doug will of got his feet under the CBS table finding other income streams.

Let time run its course and let the process happen. This window is shut lets look forward to getting behind a good squad and get as many points possible before we look to improve the group again. Dont worry about what you cant change just focus on what's ahead. Thats what the club need now .

I think most of the frustration could have been avoided with a bit of communication.

Obviously I know they can't say in case things don't happen and not on about a tweet every 5 minutes but just feel if it was handled a bit better.

There wasn't anything to say business is done and waited until 9pm to announce a player we knew about. They could have announced it earlier, announced Rapha going out and said business is done and then said we kept all the main players etc.

Poor communication is the usual euphemism for "I didn't get what I want". And anyway they are under no obligation to share such commercially sensitive information with the paying customers. in no other sector would you do that. We are not shareholders

I feel the communication about getting the icing on the cake in this window led a lot of supporters to believe we were bringing in 1 or more top talent, may have been better to keep quiet on that statement, as a lot of our fans get worked up and then anti Doug when it doesn't happen.
I fell we have a solid first 11 and several good fill in's. It's just if we lose several to injury like we did last year that things may become a bit tight

I think it was to do with the ‘quash’ of ITKs. We all thought because we weren’t hearing anything, that there must have been 3 transfers going on in the background that will surprise us. Ironically by clamping down on it, there is a rise in expectation.

Not really, I don't mean or expect to know about every conversation had through the window.

My point is that they could have managed it a bit better with social media etc and people wouldn't have been as pissed off (I'm not pissed off).

Announced at 9pm. How do you know we didn't have to apply for a 9pm extension, while final details of the players contract was sorted. It was reported clubs had agreed on a deal, which is where fans assumed it was a done deal. Even if the player was on board with the move we may have still needed to apply for the extra time; which is allowed in certain circumstances.

I might well be wrong but I reckon they were trying to get someone else in right upto the deadline but knew it was unlikely and wanted the release news of a new signing to be positive ending to the day (so held back Woolfenden confirmation). In the end it just pissed everyone off

What really gets me is that so many people on here moan despite having zero experience of running a football club or trying to sign players in such a competitive market.

It’s not a FIFA game, and we don’t have unlimited funds. If some of the people on here actually spent a day in operations at the club, they’d quickly realise it’s not as simple as “just buy better players.” Truth is, if most fans were in charge, we’d be in non-league within three years.

And on the communication side, what do people honestly expect? For the club to tweet things like: “We’ve submitted a bid of X for Y” or “We tried to sign Z but lost out on wages”? That’s just not how football works.

We also need to remember how far we’ve come. A few years ago we didn’t even own our stadium, the coaching setup was weak, and we were constantly firefighting. Now we’ve got stability, infrastructure, and a competitive squad. Plenty of clubs our size would kill to be in the position we’re in.

The owners are clearly trying to build the club sustainably rather than throwing money at short-term fixes. That’s the only way to avoid ending up back where we were. At the end of the day, the best thing we can do as fans is back the club and the players, not undermine every move with constant negativity.

So am I reading this right, you would have rather we won the FA Cup than win promotion, If so I don't think you are in a very big group

We are in a decent position to be competitive again this year. If we fail, we'll be ready to go next season.

Some people do seem to confuse desire and ambition with a guaranteed promise.

Fans always think the transfer business could have been better. The vast majority of football fans up and down the country this morning are disappointed.

Next summer we will likely lose MVE, Rudoni, Wright amongst others. Its a total rebuild from scratch.

Hypothetically, I would have taken us never getting promoted to the Premier League in my entire lifetime if it had meant we won the FA Cup the other season...

Fuck the money, I watch football for the memories and days out not the balance sheet and we would never top winning the FA Cup

It's not about the balance sheet for me, I am old enough to have enjoyed many years watching Cov in the top division, but my lad at 25 had never experienced that, we have seen many wembley trips together, but to do even a year touring the premier league grounds with him would be my ideal take on things

You enjoyed many of those top flight years? We had our brief moments for sure but I think the feeling in the main was relief at getting over the line at the end of it.
We became accustomed to being a part of something that we never exactly set alight.
The finances needed now to emulate the same are off the scale.
