1) Sisu - Sell/Sell - and dodgy accounting
2) Richardson - Buy/Sell/Buy - and keep the profits
3) Robinson - Mr Trustworthy - not
4) Ranson - "I will leave this club in a better position than I found it#2
5) McGinnity - "Eric Black was too inconsistent - Reid will get us promoted"
Basically all of these were in it for themselves, and each in their own way have put us where we are now - This has just been accelerated by our current owners
If we were to get new owners, my main concern would be that either
a) They were in it for Coventry city or
b) They were stupidly rich
Lets be quite clear about this no one comes into football for simply altruistic reasons unless they are a fanatical multi millionaire fan eg Jack Walker at Blackburn. Everyone who invests in a club does so to make a return but its the scale of return, the risks they are willing to take etc to make their money that is important. I don't have anything against an owner who makes millions out of Cov as long as its not to the detriment of the team on the pitch and the club as a whole of it, both short term and long term - if we had a competitive Premiership team then I would be happy with any owner making a fair return on their investment. What is unacceptable is the Richardson/Robinson model where their personal financial ambitions came before the good of the club or SISU where they have zero interest in the club and just want to lose as little money as possible and not risk any further investment, both approaches were ultimately disastrous for the team and the club.
I think that is a little harsh on McGinnity, to say he was in it just for himself , he may have made errors of judgement but he had to pick up the mess of The theif BR and also wrote off several million quid of his own money.
