...have been released from our squad since being relegated to league one would get into our team..

We have released an awful lot of players who would probably get into our squad. Last night many ex players scored, including Philliskirk against us.
For me,

Carl Baker
Steven Jennings
Mark Marshall
Cody Mcdonald
Johnson Clarke-Harris (albeit released for off the field reasons)
Blair Adams
Edge?
Seaborne?

Some of them are questionable, but would probably do better than our current team.

We probably should have (and probably could have) kept Baker.

Sammy Clingan would fit right in this current set up with all the sideways passes we make!

Stretching back a bit,
Possibly Clingan?
Never understood why we let go Andy Marshall.

Adams is the strangest.

Especially as he'd have been far better suited as a wingback than Pugh, if we were going to play this system!

Could do with Michael Doyle at the moment..

Grandison and Ward wouldn't count with the OP's question as they were pre-relegation.

Marshall was nowhere near as good as some people make out, he did a lot of running but he was poor on the ball and lacked intelligence as of what to do when he had it. I'd have Baker, Adams and McDonald back. We released the rest for a reason.

In all fairness he's scored 2/3 goals for Port Vale and they have highly rated him.
I'd prefer him going forward than our others.

I thought about Elliot, but I don't think he'd score anymore than Mcquoid.

I also thought about Callum Ball, he's very physical, what we need without Nouble.

His scoring record with us would certainly fit in to the current philosophy...

He wasn't really an out and out scorer but he never lost possesion and always looked to move the ball forward which included good link up play, although I don't mind mcquoid he can't really do any of that as effectively and his shooting is dire. Elliot is actually one of the best players i've seen for cov in this league just a shame he had a few injuries.

How many of these players are regulars in their teams now?

Don't get peoples love for Doyle. I hated him. Thought he was awful. Was going to say he formed part of one our worst ever midfields, but then I remembered what I've witnessed this season.....

Me too. Can only assume he upset Pressley in some way. Can't imagine he was that high an earner, apart from the fact he came from Prem reserves so may have commanded a decent wage to get him permenantly

And it's all relative, we were in the championship back then. Wasn't his biggest fan but we do miss someone with his attributes.

Damning thing is; McSheffrey would walk straight into our current XI at the moment. Would create more than anyone on the pitch

they all went for reasons.

Top of my shopping list in summer Jobi McNuff (went to Orient), Forte (went to Oldham). I would have given a trial to Mikel Lietergood (who last I heard had trial at Notts Forest). I believe he is still available. Maybe a question mark about an injury, but worth a trial and maybe pay as you play contract.

I was not a particular lover of Michael Doyle, but he could make a challenge, that is missing from our Midfield at the moment and I would have him back to fill that role, Conor Thomas is the engine room, if you will, in that role but he doesn't make a challenge or a sustainable one at that.

Thought Kyle was awful - would walk into our side now
The hughes doyle central midfield partnership was alaways critical would love to have them back
Misfud playing wide would be welcomed back with open arms
Would even consider Trevor Benjamin

But no room for Wayne Turner, Greg Downes or Julian Darby

I believe Carl Baker has been a regular in a team above us.
He scored more goals last season then our whole midfield will score combined this season.

So considering we are one of the teams with the most money in this league it's funny how others can actually afford players we can't:thinking about:

I know he is in the first team don't really look to be honest just makes me more depressed.
Just had a look at Bournemouth's stats and our one season wonder already has 9 goals in a higher league And Tim told us Joy would not sell him full stop!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know you never rated him? but honestly he is better then anyone else in our present midfield, and when he was shit he gave his all more then can be said for our current lot.

Another one cited on here is Adams. He's made 5 appearances though may have been injured.

Moussa has stated 2 league games this season.

You could argue that none of our current midfielders have started a game of late. Do you think that any of our current crop would be keeping him on the bench if he was still here?
