Portsmouth cannot finish the season and all their results are removed? i don't have the time to go through the results to work out how it would effect our position?

We lost to them so we don't loose any points. what about those who drew or won?

potential could make a lot of difference to the league table...

It won't make any difference to anybody.

Bristol City would lose a point, Doncaster none, Forest none, Millwall 3, Peterborough 3, Watford 3 and Ipswich 6

So there would be no change to the standings albeit that we would be 1 point closer to Bristol City. Millwall would be right in the scrap for relegation with Ipswich and Peterborough probably sucked into it. It's almost certain that the Football League would decide to only relegate 2 clubs so are survival chances would be improved. It would be interesting then that this would alter the league structure as there would be surely 23 teams left in League 1 as only 2 teams would replace the 3 promoted. So Portsmouth being liquidated would probably save a club from relegation in each of the divisions between the Championship and probably the Conference North/South.

However out of respect for the fans of Portsmouth I would rather not have my team survive in this manner, particularly as we're a poor financial predicament as well. I would wish that both clubs would survive but being totally honest if it's between us and them then there can be only one choice.

Why? It was a genuine question. Listening to the radio just now it is being talked about as a real possibility. Im not saying I want this to happen, but just wondered how it would effect the relegation scrap.

Southampton only got 1 point from them but West Ham 6! could decide the title too...

well if it happens then it could make 6 points of difference to some teams! I'd call that a significant difference... :thinking about:

what about being 3 points closer to Peterborough and Milwall, making it a little more tighter near the bottom!!!

A tight bottom? Now there's a nice thought!

Not if you're looking at Gary Barlow at the time it isn't.

I guess ultimately will it reduce the number of points needed to stay up? We have to hope so as most people assumed we would pick 3 points up against them.

Bottom 10 if Pompey go

Derby 32 -11 39
Watford 33 -16 37
Ipswich 32 -16 34
P'boro 32 -2 35
Milwall 33 -12 31
Forest 32 -22 31
Bristol 33 -24 30
-----------------------------
Coventry 33 -17 28
Doncaster 31 -25 25
Portsmouth 32 -1 0

Certainly tightens it up a bit.

Another thought crosses my mind... What happens with goal difference? I would assume that all goals for and against are also erased? Mean that cov get +1 to GD? After all that could be the difference this year...

Anyone know how it works?
