While we’re all high on promotion time to make ourselves future fools.

Where do you reckon we’ll finish in the Championship?

Keeping my powder dry and going mid table myself. Which would be one hell of an achievement.

Edit: should read *tight* relegation battle!

Would have preferred a League Champions option.

Whilst we can only dream about playoffs etc I think in reality and looking at other clubs that have been promoted in the past few seasons the expectation should be survival and build. Anything better than survival is a bonus and this would give the club a chance to re build and stabalise

If we are in the bottom 3 by January, we should sell the whole squad and replace them with Tranmere's squad... Granted we will miss out on autos, but it will result in another winning day at Wembley!

I expect a relegation battle. Personally I can't expect more than that. Staying up would be outstanding and then build from there. Maybe Robins will be given a few quid and then expectations might shift.

Waiting for Paddy Power to reopen so I can collect my winnings and put a bet on us for promotion next season
Mind you I did the same the year we were relegated to L2.......

Looking at the bottom group in the championship I don’t fear any of them, we have a lot of good young players, yes we need strengthening here and there, our recruitment is now usually good only had one, Kasteneer, not come off yet, get the additions right and clever use of the loan system I reckon we’ll do okay.

Playing out of the city will result in us going straight back down. How can we possibly compete?

But any shortfall in income will be provided by our owners? That’s what they promised wasn’t it and to be fair seemingly delivered last season. Shouldn’t be an excuse for lack of resources on the pitch.

Good point that. I'd snap your hand off for getting a foothold in the division in our first season. That said, BCD may let our players relax into our new found total football and we are awarded the title after 34 games, as everyone else throws in the towel at our brilliance.

Budget agreed but may need some wriggle after covid and any losses covered by owners. Put playoffs cos of mr Midas at the helm but genuinely 21st would be amazing

Yeah Covid is an obvious exception, though one all clubs face so should effect our competitiveness. Point stands that we were promised the costs of leaving Coventry would be covered by the owners so isn’t an excuse.

As I’ve said before I actually have faith we’ll have a competitive budget where ever we are. Aside from anything else the longer we are a Championship club (or above!) the stronger our hand is in stadium negotiations.

Will the fact that there will likely be no gate receipts for all clubs be a bit of a leveller in terms of budgets?

That's what I'm hoping. Add that to the fact that existing Championship clubs will have crippling wage bills in comparison to us and that levels things even further. Teams will struggle to shift players that are under contract, as the player is unlikely to secure similar wages in the current climate. Great time to get promoted imho.

I think our position regarding stadium discussions is as strong as it’s ever been. Unfortunately I think that may mean a solution/agreement may not be possible but I’m very very hopeful!

I think if we stick to our play style we'll do well as nearly all pitches will suit our style and we wont be playing on roughed up surfaces like tranmere etc for away games

Im holding out hope the state aid complaint gets resolved before Covid does. I honestly can’t see any other way forward happening.

Now I have woken up, I think we will finish 14th.

They will adjust finances accordingly wherever they play

Ricoh would mean more fans and a higher cost per fan. Season tickets I’d assume would be £400 plus and match day £25 - there would be a significant revenue differential

Survival comfortably will be great build up the coffers for a promotion push the year after.. but in reality we need to get top of the championship asap ready for the 2nd wave of covid so we get promoted again PUSB

It is quite a bigger jump than L2 to L1 and the costs will go up quite a bit for wages so we'll be among the lowest budgets. Lot depends on recruitment etc over the summer.

BUT with the virus and number of players may become available for cheaper than expected this year as teams have to trim squads due to lower income. Plus if it's mostly BCD other teams will likely be more affected in budget terms than us.

We've now also got longer to prepare and have a decent pre-season compared to teams already above us as they're continuing the season and might end up with a shorter break than us. Fatigue could set in for them earlier than us.

I like the system we play and I hope MR recruits with it in mind, but I also hope he has one or two more up his sleeve in case it's not working or gets 'found out'

If in doubt, 17th. But I think we could do better than that and be solid mid-table. However, even if we do struggle with relegation or even ultimately come back down, I will state right now that MR deserves the chance to have another go if he wants. This goes against my usual thoughts on the matter that we stick with a manager too long and too much is put into 'stability leads to success'. But over both tenures MR has proven to be very good with us despite failing elsewhere. Even more so he seems to be a bit 'lucky'. L2 injuries to Andreu and Jones led to him changing formation that turned our season around. Last season the injury to Jobello also led to a formation change that turned us from a solid team into a winning one. When you have someone with that kind of fortune don't ignore it.
