Think it's fair to say expectations are trailing off rapidly.

There may be disagreement on what should happen with the manager but what about expectations for the season?. With a quarter of the season gone where do we think we will end up?

I think around 16th.

It won't let me change it, but it should read 7-12th.

Before the season started, I was looking at a play off push but finishing around 7th or 8th, but now bottom half

Not a chance we’ll be relegated. Not a chance we’ll be top six. I think we’ll just sneak top half.

It needs to start improving rapidly before too many will agree with you sadly

Gone for Auto's, all we need to do is start winning every game left. Job done!

I don’t think we will be relegated, far from it but it is genuinely hard to make a case for anything above top half even at this early stage we have left ourselves with way too much to do

Tbh after the last 7 or so years if anyone was due a boring, non-event, dull season it was probably us

Interesting that most people think we’ll improve.

What is it that people are expecting to change?

I couldn't call it right now.
On the positive side I look at a lot of the games we've played and lost by the one goal, and although we haven't played really well, a chance missed or a correct refereeing decision and we have more points and I think we will be safe 7-12th
On the negative side, in a lot of the games we have played really poorly and let teams overrun us and we give away stupid goals, and on this side I think we will finish nearer 21st, or if we don't start doing things differently even relegation.
We have some really tough games coming up and if we get beat resoundingly in them, we may find ourselves 4-6 points adrift of safety even at this early stage, and with the lack of confidence in the team we may struggle to catch that up

People are clinging on to the idea that a huge turn of form will take place like last November.

The difference is, we don't have O'Hare ready to jump in and turn the ship.

17th.

I said before the season started, that this campaign would not be the cake-walk that some were billing it as.

This squad is not a ‘team’ yet, and I’m very concerned at the level of performances. Surely, these players are more capable and mentally stoic than this?

There will be a turnaround for sure. We have the squad to do so. Once we put the finger on the reason for our current form we will rise rapidly up the table. Too late for a playoff place? Definately not but it now needs to be the target.
Who we play next has no bearing as we can beat anyone should we get it together. There is a long season ahead and I do not btw see any team racing away at the top end this year. Looking forward to when it comes together for us.

I agree to an extent but I would say that any turnaround will not be maintained with the midfield as it is.
Address that in January and maybe.

Yup, same.

It's not cast in stone and I can't see that we are in a relegation battle when it's only October and there's so long to go in the season.

Two wins and we could leap up the table.

We really should have won last night shouldn't we. We looked well in control and that goal of theirs came completely out of the blue and then we had at least two fantastic chances to win it didn't we. Simms should have scored twice (or passed the one to Bassette, who would have surely scored)

I still fancy our chances against Luton. I really do.

That's what needs to happen. We need to get to January and not be in the bottom 3 and then bring some midfield reinforcement in

Apart from Leeds, who are a cut above most of the teams in this division, no one has beaten us by more than 1 goal, league or cup.
That is unusual for a team in the bottom 3 with a quarter of the season gone.
We are horrible to watch at times but we aren't getting hammered each week.
I really think with some improvements in coaching and providing we can start playing a settled team, we will start winning a few games.
I think now though, mid table is our best hope.

Otis, how many games now have people said, we should have won that, but it's just not happening, something isn't right within the team setup, and it needs to change fast or we will be looking back in 2025 and saying we should have won a load of those games and be further up the table
I hope we do, I have followed City since 1966, I have been to the bottom in League two and the joys of moving back up the leagues and what that entailed, but I would struggle with another relegation to League 1 if it ever happened

We need to add experience to the group. There’s too many young players with nothing to balance it out.

When you’re in a rut like we are, there needs more than just Sheaf to lead. Lati, to be fair looks like a leader too but we just need more.

Sheaf isn't leading, this is also part of the problem. Lati isn't my favourite player, but as I said in the match thread yesterday, he is stepping up into that captains role in hole left by the former. We desperately need to bring in some experienced players in January.

We also have one sitting on the bench, but it doesn't look like Robins fancies playing him.

I get that but quite a few of the team have played a good amount of games at Championship level.

It's less about experience, more about leadership.

Deadly Doug , hoping , praying or whatever else he can now do , to get a club interested in Vik ……… otherwise January isn’t going to bring any joy or reprieve to our poor season.
On that note & watching every game , I’m convinced there isn’t 3 worse teams , in the league , than ours !
