Last one for me we are about right for what we have got.

CCFC should be flirting with premier league....a typical yo-yo club.

anything more is success, anything less is failure

Top 6 squad. I don't think the players in this division are up to much. Of course we could do with a keeper or a DM, but the quality is there throughout the squad IMO.

Upper midtable minimum, we should be top 10 with genuine aspirations of pushing for the play offs. We should at least be part of the chasing pack for 6th alongside Oldham, Notts and Rochdale.

Yeah, on second thoughts, what he said.

i think the squad is 10-14th squad. i've gone for lower midtable, but i definitely think we are underachieving. Our squad has no balance - we have too many loans, too many strikers, not enough natural width, no pace and not good enough in central midfield.

Fantastic question btw.

- this is a top 6 squad, we are underachieving

If you were to categorically go through all the other teams in this league (their players, transfer budgets, wage budgets) it would be clear we have a strong squad in comparison to the majority of this division.

The fact the likes of Rochdale (who sold their best striker in the summer replacing him with Calvin Andrew), Chesterfield (Who messed up their finances during the summer meaning they couldn't bring in the players they wanted to), Notts County (Who signed the players other teams in this division didn't want, Gary Jones and Garry Thompson for example) Oldham (Who lost their star midfielder Korey Smith to Brizzle and signed journeyman strikers like Forte and Ibehre) are challenging for the playoffs and in Oldham's case currently sit in sixth, just highlights how poorly we are underachieving with Pressley in charge.

I've said it from day one that this is a poor poor league, and for this squad not to be at the very least in the top half is farcical.

It says it all that after 19 games, today was the only time I personally felt Pressley had set the team up in the correct way. Although Finch shouldn't have been near the starting eleven.

A new competent manager will reap the benefits of this squad

Good thread actually stupot07. This will divide opinion and to be honest I'm not sure. I think it's just that it's opinion.

On one hand I personally believe they are shit players and deserve to be relegation in and around there anyway and SP is doing a decent job. What would it achieve by sacking him as its the same players, same circumstances and owners?

On the other hand I i look at ccfc way post on another thread and he stated Walsall strikers to ours and its striking. We have mcquiod, Jackson, nouble, tudgay, Madine.
They had grimes, manset and players we don't know. All rejects. 1 our reject.

I really sit on the fence with this one as I'm still not sure.

Too soon to answer really. I would expect us to still pick it up and flirt with the top six. If not then the manager will have to carry the blame I fear.

I like to flirt with birds that are about 25 to 30, fit and very good looking. It doesn't mean that I am in the same league as them though.

Agree 100%, for every reason that you state. Of course, for all those weaknesses, we are still underachieving-and some of them can be at least partly blamed on the manager.

A good manager over-achieves rather than under-achieves anyway, doesn't he? So if it's a 10th-14th squad, a decent manager can still mount a play-off challenge. The Blackpool Championship promotion side and the Yeovil L1 promotion side were probably also midtable on paper, much lower on wage bill.

Bottom line: "there's something rotten in the state of Denmark".

We clearly are underachieving .

I'm a believer in the Carrot not the Stick ,I think we're employing the latter .
