What's decent is that most of the recent ones are playing at or around our level (some higher) that bodes well for us in our current state. It would just be nice if our youngsters could gain some experience on loan instead of growing up while playing for our 1st team and making the inevitable mistakes that come along with inexperience.
The most astonishing thing is the back drop of what this is being done against. With all the off field turmoil of the last few years, the Academy being kicked out of the Higgs Centre and Coventry sliding down the leagues. Our Academy has continued to deliver some excellent players.
Just think if they hadn't been sold what a fantastic 'home grown' squad of players we could have.
Massive credit has to go to both Gregor Rioch for starting this off but I think more importantly our current Academy Manager Rich Stevens. Stevens was brought in at the start of Gregor's time and is largely credited with getting the clubs cat 2 Academy status.
