Depends what you class as an era really but the SISU years are the grimmest i've experienced. Within those years i reckon the Slade 'era' felt the worst, it's a fucking crowded field though.

I'm so glad we have the hope and optimism around the club now that can bring us all together on threads like this

Surely there was still some hope at that point? It got a lot worse after that moment and the next 10 years were full of lies, false promises and bullshit from all directions off the pitch. on the pitch. SISU created that sad, sad period in our history.

From what I was told it was all bleak under sisu but there was a point from the L1 relegation season to the first season back at the CBS so 2017 - 2021 where it was that bad the basics weren't done

There was no training equipment, no food or chefs onsite at Ryton, even things like lucozade sport, bottled water, no money for stays and travel before away games.

This was all fronted by Overson

On top of the shit attendances and fact we were only allowed (when we played there) in the CBS for 4 hours on a matchday, I'd say that was the lowest point

It’s a bit difficult to fill a ground when the club owners did everything they could to empty it.

It was really the whole era from Ranson (the prick) resigning to L2 promotion that was grim.

If I had to take one particular game it would be one of the following three:

Newport at home in L2 - A tiny club turning up in the league and beating us acting like it was their cup final

Yeovil away in L2 - early in that season there was no connection between the fans themselves let alone the team. We just spent the entire game arguing in that away game end.

FGR at home in L2 - fans arguing with players on the pitch. A tiny tiny club beating us with about 10 fans in the away end and a total of about 3000 in the arena.

So for me I guess it was the start of that L2 season. It seemed like we weren’t going to offer much of a fight in going back up and the checkatrade was a last hurrah before the club faded away. Wasps there giving it the biggun whenever they could and an unhelpful council made it look like there was no legitimate way back.

I remember the Newport game well, wasnt David Pipe playing for them and made a prick of himself celebrating at the end.

The worst I felt was the L1 relegation season and the game against Sheffield United at home, where we lost to a late goal [if i remember correctly] and their fans taking the p**s.
I thought that with all the court cases and SISU's total lack of any interest in the playing side, we would be playing non league football very soon after OR be liquidated.
A year later, I'm in raptures as we beat Notts County away in the playoff to start our ascent. MR you dragged up from the depths of despair to thinking about the tactics of games, rather than the latest court case.

Getting smashed 4-0 or 4-1 away to Shrewsbury on a tuesday night in our first season down in League 1, and realising we hadn't quite hit the bottom yet.

Although i had a season ticket, the whole Sixfields episode was grim.

Wasps coming in and so many people seemingly backing it.

The game after the GIllingham return, when we went straight back to a piss-poor crowd of around 11000, and our own corner singing "your support is f***ing shit" at the rest of the ground.

They were the worst for me, but the Shrewsbury game stands out.

The one good thing Fisher did for the club was persuading Robins to return.

Wasps popping up so soon after we went back the first time was a real punch to the gut.

Oh yeah. Sad though it is in many ways a better feeling than any Wembley appearance!

Hairy handed prick Richard Keys turning up to games with Joe Elliot. It was such a dark period from when SISU came in until they eventually fucked off. Thank fuck Robins came back when he did, we'd be in the Beazer Homes league by now

Who was the American bloke who rocked up Boss Hogg style pretending to be a buyer? Didn’t the sbt lap it up at the time.
There is so much that went on through the whole sisu ownership period that stuff gets forgotten.

Most had distanced themselves from the bad smell that was Wasps by the end, which is why they should have all been branded when we had chance. The few that remained were fenced in like Turkeys insisting they were going to make it through Christmas without any issues.

I was going to say Northampton, the week where Forest Green and Accrington both beat us away within a week, or the entire relegation season but my very worst memory is Northampton away in that season. We lost 3 or 4 nil. Game was stopped about twice due to pitch invasions and i left on 55 minutes. I genuinely though, fuck it. Theres gotta be a better way to spend my weekends.

When the police came into the ground and stood right in front of the Northampton fans. They all went apeshit. So funny.

The Crawley away game was a bad on also.

I can't say exactly who because believe it or not there are still NDA's in place over that shite

But there's a fan who's very present on Twitter who worked for the council at the time and gave Gilbert the tip off. They were going to try and push it by on the sly and he was like 'na fuck this' and told Gilbert

Within 20 minutes it was all over the news and the council had to abandon ship. It's a shame I can't name him for years because he deserves a pint off everyone for that

That was the most toxic atmosphere at a game that I have ever been too.
Some of it was on the back of some older City fans getting beaten up at the reverse fixture by a group of lads. Some of it due to the state of the club.
There was loads of trouble all day around Northampton before and after the game as well.

When I was a lot younger, I used to think our low point was the way we fell apart in ‘91-92 after a good start and only surviving by the skin of our teeth, almost incapable of scoring.

Obviously I didn’t know I was born. But the slow motion shitshow which unfolded between late Richardson and late SISU eras has been almost unbelievable at times. Even the highs were bittersweet. Feeling like we would smash promotion back to the championship under Mowbray in 15-16 only to capitulate was deflating if not quite as bad as playing at 6 fingers.
But the low point, the abyss, rock bottom, whatever you want to call it, has to be the Russel Slade days. No contest for me.
