There are some stand out seasons of course but really the whole SISU, Wasps, Council bullshit years. Shit on the pitch, shit in the stands, a general feeling that it was only ever going to get worse. I remember more than i would want to but i'd happily have it all zapped from my brain and i choose not to think about it often as it makes me feel sick. In fact you should feel bad about starting this thread.

Other than actually going out of business, like Bury, who has had it worse? Maybe Pompey? Maybe Luton? I don’t know that either of them had to move grounds…twice.

Defo not Pompey. They over-spent their way to their problems. Two FA Cup Finals in which they won one, European competition with AC Milan coming to Fratton Park - they did ok. Their issue was paying money they couldn't really afford/Mandaric wanted back.

Whilst they have 'suffered', it was likely as a result of over-spending.

I've obviously got a soft spot for them being that I live a few miles from FP and a lot of my friends are Pompey fans - but I'm pretty sure 100% of them would say we had it tougher than them. Maybe apart from that twat with the bell.

Even now we have accounts on here that suddenly start posting as soon as something negative about the council or ACL is posted.

The old CCFC regimes, SISU, ACL, The Council and The Franchise all played their part.

Weirdly, some ‘fans’ were supporting them over the club. There were even “up the council” posts on here - wankers.

Forest Green doing the double over us or Yeovil beating us 6-2 at home has to be the darkest days…

I hate Forest Green off the back of that lone season in league two…. I’ve got no intention of seeing us back in that hell hole of a league ever again

Fuck this take too.

Sisu, ransom, Robinson, wasps, council, pwkh, the trust.

Anybody involved in that era can fuck off.

Ahh yes ‘uncle Ray’ - one of the key players in own downfall. You can add Thorn to that list as well.

On the bright side we can at least point to October 22nd 2022 when it became much brighter - when the insects went bust. I still flick on the fb pages now and then to drink in the tears of their “fans”

Yeah, I think you’re right. Seeing Ronaldinho at Fratton Park is one of the old man’s greatest Pompey memories.

Precisely why I said that we really didn't need to go down this hole in my earlier post. There are plenty of insults that can be thrown around but I won't lower myself.
It will just cause divisions and arguments. As someone who has lost a supposed 'friend' over our opposing stances on this I implore everyone to let it lie and forget about it. We have moved on now and are in a much better place.

I was in the home end for the away fixture. I’m not sure I’ve ever been so riled after a game. Partly due to 3 lads sat behind me who had seemingly never been to a match before and who were very vocal throughout.
Partly cos we were shite and deserved to lose…mostly those 3 cretins though. Fucking wankers.

I’m over it!

For me it was the period between MR leaving to go to Huddersfield and then returning. That whole time was awful both on and off the pitch and after Mowbray left it felt like we were on our way out of the FL.

I’ve mentioned it previously but the actual lowest point for me was the 4-1 defeat at Oxford in November 2016, with Venus pretending to be a manager. 3-0 down at HT and a shocking performance by every player; 4-0 after 60 mins. I thought then we were heading to L2 and that was before Christmas. MR’s return offered a little hope but he came back too late.

The Checkatrade final was the moment when things started to change for the better.

They were a couple of rows back but probably would’ve done had they been directly behind me…absolute abominations. Fucking bumpkins and their terrible banter…
Im good, I’m good.

There were also rather more people wearing mustard cords and wax jackets than I was used to at a match

I remember arriving to the ground thinking it was a formality we would walk away with three points, think our players thought the same. Pretty certain Yeovil scored every time they came forward.

One highlight was an absolute worldie by Biamou, shame the rest of the game means everyone forgets it, probably intentionally and quite rightly so.

I’m sure it was 4-1 at half time. We look like we were on the piss the Friday night.

didn’t Yeovil get relegated aswell?

I don’t think those that tried to get people fired from their jobs for a difference of opinion on a football club should ever be forgiven.

3-0, I think, and they scored all three within the first 10/15 minutes. I think they stayed up, although not by much.

Sometimes you have to be the bigger man and let it go. Dragging it all back up serves no purpose now.

As someone who wasn't alive for a large part of the clubs recent history, it has to be the Russel Slade era for me. 4 defenders and 4 strikers being shoehorned into a 4-4-2 with Yakubu stood still in the middle of the pitch watching everyone run past him.

I remember when we got relegated I genuinely feared we'd drop out of the football league entirely. Luckily Robins came back and pulled off miracles.

I was going to say Northampton, the week where Forest Green and Accrington both beat us away within a week, or the entire relegation season but my very worst memory is Northampton away in that season. We lost 3 or 4 nil. Game was stopped about twice due to pitch invasions and i left on 55 minutes. I genuinely though, fuck it. Theres gotta be a better way to spend my weekends.
