When they announce the Ricoh deal who's going? (2 Viewers)

i'm going to go to the 1st real home game (at the Ricoh) when and if that should happen and take my 2 daughters for their 1st visit.

not sure after that, being totally honest i dont want to give sh1tsu a penny more. i dont want them involved in my club but i feel it will be important to welcolme SP and the team home.

now waiting for the nose & face replies to come.

Does rental/ownership influence your decision to attend ? Not particularly but it would be nice if the club got some more revenues from the match days

I took these questions to be rhetorical as there is not a cat in hells chance that we shall be returning to the Ricoh unless the council agrees a sale to SISU which it wont.
However I will renew my season ticket without question if the impossible were to happen.

skybluetony176, you may be surprised by just how many people feel the same as you do. I will have 6 tickets for the first match back at the RICOH, and will watch with interest how things progress, buying tickets as we go. I won't renew my ST until the end of the season if SISU are being good owners or have gone, then I will renew all of my families tickets

I won't go back until the current board has gone!

Yeah but if Timmy realises he would get towards 20000punters at the ricoh ,sooner or later hes gotta see its the only way to get his 40 mllion back

The team seem motivated as a starter and perhaps a promotion will do a lot to heal.

I had a season ticket for many years,Have been going to matches since the days of Alf Wood and the Masons. when SISU came in it didnt take long to put an end to my Saturdays.They stole my club and took it away,yes Mr Fish ,I will return to the Richo but not if SISU own it and the club they supposed to own pay them rent.
At the age of 77 I really cant see me supporting home games.

I have had season tickets in the past and travelled all over following City. I've been to fewer games in recent years for a number of reasons. If we get back to the Ricoh I will be there, regardless of ownership. Don't it always seem to go that you don't know what you've got 'til its gone?

Buster, I think 20000 punters is a bit optimistic to be honest but I hear what you say. However I don't believe that SISU will go back on their word that they wont be returning unless a purchase of the Ricoh is on the cards. I think they would rather liquidate us out of spite than return under a rental agreement.
Having said that I hope that I am wrong but judging by SISU's attitude so far I remain sceptical.

I personally also think they would rather liquidate than sell cheap and "admit defeat". Liquidation as is being proven currently can hide quite a lot. They could quite easilly make as much money as they could and then liquidate. Im not going to dare suggest that SISU have taken more money out of the club than they have put in, but if we were to say WHAT IF THEY HAD then why would they need to sell?

Have to agree. The "they will just liquidate the club" argument is ludicrous and makes no sense. Come on! SISU have done enough wrong already. Surely, people don't have to create crimes against the club?

It's not just liquidation re: CCFC either, it'd be liquidation in a wider context of what would be better for them.

Tough negotiating to enable big rewards sometimes means you have to take a small hit, so the big potential rewards continue to be on offer elsewhere.

Ok maybe my choice of words wasn't great either. I don't necessarily believe that they will liquidate the club, however I think there is a possibility. I don't know much about how business works so I am not going to suggest anything as fact. However from rumours I have heard, and looking at things broadly, I do think that they have made money out of us, and have found it fairly easy to "sweep it under the carpet". I think it comes down to asking yourself why were they so keen to buy the club back out of administration and what have we found out from the liquidation process?

At what point will you go? Possibly the odd game a season if we're back at The Ricoh, but no ST until we have new owners.

Honestly?

My own optionion is they've made bog all money, but instead have had to bung masses into the club;

Ultimately though we're an investment in a portfolio of investments. The choices are either carry on spunking oney and hope it turns round, get out, or tey and do something about it so the investment's not as bad.

The latter's what they've chosen, and the latter's why it's been hardball all the way. Ultimately getting out by just handing over to somebody else probably doesn't get you your cash back after all (would be genuinely interested for Robinson to come forward and say what the deal was re: his debts... but I suspect I'll be dead first before that happens!). Carrying on sending cash into the club clearly doesn;t work either; the club has been intrinsically broken for years.

So the classic thing to do in such circumstances is cut costs as much as possible, make the business look some way together... get out once you have something someone may actually want to buy, as opposed to just take on, on a whim.

The problem comes when it's not really worth your while selling it as-is. What are they going to get for it after all? A pile of debts, only Ryton as an asset, 'goodwill' and a place in the league - nobody's realistically going to do more than just agree to take on the liabilities, and maybe make you a promise of some cash back if success ever comes.

But is that really worth doing? Football clubs tend to survive more on emotion than realism, any other business would have been wound up back when the co-op had enough of Robinson. If you're owned by a business whose sole reason to exist is financial return then the emotion goes out the window. Even then the only buyers are those who are in the business of making high risk investments, and aren't really interested in the sport, more the risk, with less thought as to the consequences of said risk... In fact while most people, it's probably in their interest to 'save' a club, it's probably in SISU's overarching interest to confirm their reputation as hardball negotiators - any loss that comes out of hardball negotiation is probably worth a 'win' elsewhere, as it means you take them seriously when they come in front of you with a proposal.

So I would take the threat of oblivion very seriously if this doesn't pay off. Now to an extent, this all might be good for us as fans long term, as the club's been crippled for years, going round in ever decreasing circles. Something had to give... what I expected to give was the liquidation and oblivion of the club one day - I didn't expect the trauma of this year.

But ultimately the consequences of either club set fair(ish) on a restructured course, or its oblivion and the chance to start again might be better than the slow drip of Coventry Water Torture. Admittedly it's a bit like deciding whether you want cat shit or dog shit for breakfast...

The concern as well probably comes if the club is restructured, moves back to the Ricoh, but still doesn't succeed. What's to be done then? tbh the only other thing I can see is housing on Ryton, but it might be worth considering what other avenues are open after this, before deciding if restructuring is better than oblivion.

Anyway if they did go back to Coventry, I'd feel obliged to go as support for the fact they're back in Coventry.

Beyond that, to keep me, the club would need to show it's interested in the club, rather than the cash however. That doesn't mean spunkin cash on players either, I don't care what level the club plays at, but I do care that it's run along lines that sets in place foundations.

Ironically, on the playing side, they're undoubtedly doing that.

Well like I said, I don't know much about business, but from my point of view why would you buy yourself out again from admin, continue to lose money but streamline the business just so you can sell "something someone may actually want to buy". They had the perfect oppurtunity to get out in admin. The rent at the Ricoh was £1.3 million a year so from 2007 to 2012 that is £6.5 million yet they claim we owed them £60 million in which they just "wrote off" in the admin process. Like I said I don't know, but something seems seriously wrong to me. I think they personally are making money out of all of this, whilst CCFC suffers.

They're not making money, but they want to get something back of what they've put in, is why.

So the current strategy is short term pain for long term gain, but it is an investment atm designed to get cash back, as opposed to just plugging holes. If it doesn't pay off, then off they toddle.

Relatively small loss in giving it a go, then not even bothering.

Just to throw a potential spanner in the works.
Does the suggestion that the council were prepared to talk to other parties and not SISU form part of the JR?
Parties such as Bing who were given access to the Ricoh at short notice if I recall, who now seems very snuggled up to SISU?
