Wouldn’t surprise me if King pulls the trigger now. Robins has no excuses.
He can’t motivate the team for whatever reason and tactically he is very poor. Why isn’t he able to a change formation or be more positive when we need to get a goal? Utterly bizarre.
From where I’m standing so much has gone wrong I don’t know where you start in trying to put it right. And looking at what you’ve written I don’t think you do eitherI don’t think Robins will be under real threat unless we’re in serious trouble for relegation after January. An honest assessment of this team is that it’s top-heavy. So there’s multiple stakeholders at fault here and that includes King if @Saddlebrains intel is accurate about MR wanting Matty James for example.
Southampton in 22/23 invested heavily in talented players who were inexperienced and the cost of that recruitment policy was relegation. We have no experienced pros in the team outside of Bidwell really.
We can tweak formations and combinations of players but the reality is, today’s eleven is probably the best we have. Maybe 1 or 2 players here or there. Our project is far from complete and we’re just lacking quality in multiple areas.
If I was a football manager, my first priority would be to be tough defensively and most of the goals we’ve conceded this season have been too soft. It’s just a shame that both our experience is probably FM related! From where I’m standing so much has gone wrong I don’t know where you start in trying to put it right. We lost in the third minute of injury time. I confidently predict that has adversely affected the objectivity on here.I mean your take on the game was pretty absurd to be fair
Maybe in another person’s case but I can guarantee you my thoughts up to that goal were the same. We were unable to cope with the opposition for long spells. We lost in the third minute of injury time. I confidently predict that has adversely affected the objectivity on here.
When a shit load of money is spent on the squad expectations inevitably and justifiably rise.
Consequently when the performances are repeatedly poor with little obvious direction and adaptability to opposition tactics questions have to be asked. Let's face it this season has been pretty dire and clueless in most respects so far.
In Championshjp terms very much so. How many other Championship clubs have spent what Cov have over the last 18 months other than those who have been relegated ?Shit load of money?

Yes exactly

What changes would you have made today , tactically that is to win the match .
I love how our fans talk tactics but this isnt football manager , so tell me what tactics would you have deployed today to win the game
So bearing in mind we were today playing a side who we would have expected to beat at home but they were probably the better side in the second I would suggest their winner was probably deserved. We lost in the third minute of injury time. I confidently predict that has adversely affected the objectivity on here.

Every team above us is either a promoted or relegated team over the last 2 seasonsWe've not spent as much as people make out in Championship terms.
We've spent a lot for Coventry City, it's clouding people's judgement.
We're still massively underperforming admittedly

This statistic shows, which clubs of the Championship in the seasons 23/24 to 24/25 had the highest transfer expenditures and/or transfer incomes.www.transfermarkt.co.uk
This is a compelling case. There was a dismissal about the end of last season, but it becomes a big problem when you add it to this beginning of this season.Weeks ago when I voiced my concerns in noticing some alarming signs, I was booed and heckled with profanities by some of you (such as procdoc). However, I didn't reply in kind and chose the high road instead. Yet, it is interesting to note that some of these same people seem to be starting to sing a different tune.
As I said weeks ago, a pattern has been emerging as to how the poor form towards the end of last season has been carried forward into this season. The team has remained largely the same. So naturally you would expect to see improvement from thar and to build from how we tailed off dramatically last season. However, that has not happened. To me it seems like some players (e.g. Simms) have regressed tremendously, while I have doubts whether new signings like EMC are up to the required standard. Yet other like Rapha have still not showed up to the party. Though Sheaf is important, we cannot pin our poor form solely to his injury. The performances have largely been abysmal and disjointed (in MR's words) this season. The clean sheet and win vs Blackburn this week was an exception and not the norm and the team again failed miserably in trying to beat a Sheff Wed side that played a day later in midweek and has not won away this season until today.
Look Robins has been great for the last 7 years (don't get me wrong), but he's running out of excuses as to why we are losing games/points week in week out and are so easy to score against. I am not openly advocating for his dismissal, but things have to be looked at objectively in terms of the good of the club and how to take it forward. The issue I have with MR is that sometimes he's too nice and will not/cannot beat the shit out of his players to some results on the pitch. He seldom makes effectual changes during a match that impact the outcome and this season he's been outthought quite easily by opposing managers. In his defence though his limitations as a coach have been hampered by the recruitment policies of no loans, no purchases/loans of players in their late twenties/thirties, no midfield/defensive reinforcements but a plethora of attacking ones. To add to this perfect storm that is fast derailing this campaign are the hiring of the new Performance Director, her appointments of Boateng/Carr and the dismissal of Viveash. I honestly haven't seen anything of value contributed by this backroom staff that was going so well under the Adi/MR tandem.
We face Preston next who we never get a result against and they have shown great improvement of late winning 3-0 vs Watford and drawing 0-0 away to Burnley. So things don't look promising for the team or MR.
He doesn’t deserve the season, carry on like this and it’s League 1.He deserves the season…. It’s not even quarter gone yet!!!
Please no.Sunderland away before the next international break. Think that’s 6 more games.
If it stays as is then I think the plug will be pulled unfortunately.
If they do I hope they promote Boatang and give him til the the January window to see if the new coaching regime has any ideas.
Then if they don’t big Doug can admit he fucked up and appoint an outside manager and give him some dollar for the experienced midfielders and defenders we need.
My point is obvious surely.And?
Not sure what your point is.
It's a shit metric anyway but season on season we're 7th or 8th, (depending on which website you look at) biggest spenders.
So as I said, for Coventry, yeah, lot of money, but in the grand scheme of things....
But yeah, still underachieving
Can’t imagine any new coach would be able to bring staff with them. It’s far more likely one of the current staff are promoted into the head coach position
After 10 gamesA lot of talk of relegation battles and Robins out. I’m honestly not sure how I feel on either, but interested to know when the judgement can be made? What is the sample size of matches? I’m tempted to say up to next international break, but it’s going to take some nerve to get there.
