I think most of us have followed City long enough and are reasonable enough not to let this amazing start go to our heads.

But has anyone else identified a point in the season where they think “If were still thereabouts after that I’m going to have trouble holding it together”?

For me it’s the six games between the November international break and Christmas. Obviously we could fall apart in the next six games, but if we come through the following and are still top six I’ll be getting very excited for this season:

Feels like the run just before Covid finished the season in L1 where I thought “this is where the wheels come off” and they didn’t.

Of course still half a season to go after that, but you don’t get much tougher blocks of six in this division IMO.

Christmas for me. If we are still in and around the top 6 I will start to believe a promotion push is possible

Was just thinking about this and for me I want to see us get points at home from a few more of the top teams and look a bit tighter on the road. The block of games you’ve identified looks key.

FA cup 3rd round weekend. Always gives you a Saturday off of regular action and it’s a good time to assess. If we’re top 6 then I won’t know how to contain my myself.

Tough run, but I see 1-3-0-0-1-1 only 6 from 6 but with what we're already clear I think that's enough to just about keep us in the top 6 and the way we play, I already believe 5-10 is where we'll end up and obviously 2 of those places are play offs so I think we have a realistic chance. Might only be 11 games, but that's a quarter of the season. Strap in, its gonna be a bumpy exciting ride imo - keep the faith.

Was at half time yesterday after watching the Jimmy hill video , the huge Phoenix on the scoreboard , and just got the feeling that this Phoenix really is rising , to bounce back from a 5-0 thrashing then going behind to one of the most expensive squads in the division,to turn it around the way they did shows huge belief ..
Long may it continue

It’s strange, Wednesday night apart, we look alright away. But are missing the cutting edge we have at home. Like an unfinished article.

Robins seems to suggest it’s a mental thing as much as anything else. I wonder if like the other season it’ll just click one game and we’ll be OK from there on out. Two weeks to work on whatever it is now then two away games to test it. Should be interesting.

Yes and I'm not suggesting we shouldn't hope for improvement there either, just to stay relaxed about it ,, especially while the form is so good.

Our league winning season was similar, mental that we didn't even win an away game until Boxing Day. We also lost a match heavily early October

Yeah Maybe we need to be more conservative away from home and revert to the box. We could have Kelly and Sheaf sitting with Hamer and O’Hare in behind Gyokeres

I think fans should be excited, why? Because the nucleus of this group have performed in the championship really well over a period of time and games. If you look at the the last 10 games of last season and 11 this season we have won 12, drew, 3 and lost 6. That is more than fluke, this is a club that is progressing at a rate faster than all around the club thought could happen. And by those outside the club to make so many positive remarks that others take notice.

I see no reason for this team to stop performing or improving, I also see certain results not going out way. But if we break the games in blocks of 10 you see a pattern emerge of a team that is consistently performing and bouncing back after defeats.

So how do we improve? MR needs to do sort out our away form, turning loses into draws or sneaky wins because if we do that then, forget excitement.. That put us in dreamland that nobody would of expected and most 4 years ago would think was impossible.

Was our away form bad in our L2 promotion? I genuinely can’t remember.

I don’t like Hamer as an AM. We end up playing 3511 and getting sucked deep. I think if we’re going box it’s Allen and O’Hare behind Györkeres. Which id quite like to see TBF.

I remember looking into it after Shrewsbury, and I went back about 5 seasons, and no side who'd got automatic promotion had an away record ass bad as ours pre Christmas.

That was league 1.

I can only remember Yeovil and FGR when we were terrible and getting soaked at Newport.

Although just now remembered beating Swindon and Lincoln though.

Yes, it seems to be a mental/confidence thing. This team really thrives off the crowd and naturally being home feeds into that. Our away following also appears to be very good, but we still seem a little tentative and vulnerable. So we just need to geg that sorted out. Giving respect to your opposition is fine, but you have to also make them respect you as well.

I’m thinking Hamer because I think he could play there if he’s willing to have the discipline to stick to that particular role. He could be a real outlet there if it clicked
