Think that if you study the league tables in history things do not get going properly till 10 games - Teams that are near the top suddenly drop like a stone when things get going. New players settling in, new teams match fitness etc - Remember we have 13 or 14 new players it will take time - Saturday to me showed that we play good football and created many chances and the score on another day could have been 5-1 or 5-2 if we could convert - think it will come - McNulty did not get going till 7 or 8 games last season and was nearly loaned out - have the faith

I just hope that things turn in time for us to beat Scumderland (considerably). Don't think I could tale those cunts coming on here gloating.

Problem is converting those chances Thomas looks a decent player but his shooting yesterday was dreadful

The doom and gloom is probably because we are starting to realise we are back to where we were 2 seasons ago. In League One with owners who are not prepared to invest to take us any further. In particular it is clear Robins has not been backed in the Summer to go out and get a proven striker to replace McNulty. I’m struggling to see where the goals will come from, it’s unfair to expect Chaplin to get 15-20 goals in his first full season. Same old City, same old SISU I’m afraid.

Robins has spent £1 million pounds on 3 forwards. He’s been backed more than any manager in the last 10 years

It’s skewed a little bit because we sold our best striker for over a million and received a sell on fee what is believed to be £2.5m+ but you still can’t say Robins hasn’t been backed. How many L1 clubs can spend £500k on a striker who’s not even proven yet at this level?

I agree with the OP that the doom and gloom is being overdone, and I couldn’t believe some of the scores of 3, 4 and 5 on the Player Ratings thread, reflecting the result more than the actual performances. If a few of the chances had gone the other side of the post, the same players would suddenly be getting at least 7 or 8. Bayliss played some fine stuff IMO, and Thomas is a livewire.

It’s frustrating that with so few points on the board we have given ourselves a mountain to climb in terms of promotion or the playoffs. But we’ve played some excellent entertaining football in the 3 games I’ve seen, just let down by truly terrible finishing and some slack defending (especially by the various full backs IMO). Crazy that we had 16 shots (often from great positions) with 2 on target, and they had 8 on target from 12 so our keeper had far more to do than theirs. Those are the decisive things in football, so all the good stuff has gone to waste. If Robins can sort those issues out, I think we have the makings of a very good side at this level.

Looking forward to the rest of the season, even if it turns out to be a work in progress.

There was doom and gloom most of last season.

For 75% of the season we were poor last season but managed to get promoted because the rest of the league was awful. A few brilliant performances at the end of the season brought positivity.

If we had kept the same side as last season, I'd have been happy with survival. However, we've spent more money than any season since relegation from the championship yet we've seemed to have made no progress.

Of course we are now playing in a higher division, but the teams we have played have been awful.

This close season we must have spent more than most of the club's in league one on transfers. To be fair credit where credit is due robin's might not have spent it wisely but he was backed this summer

If we have paid £200k for bakayoko then serious questions need to be asked moving forward on the clubs scouting. The guys totally out of his depth. It’s also not fair on the the guy either to expect him to be something his clearly not able to do in the professional game.

Fuckaduck. Are we really including Chaplin in the million quid flops ? He’s played a 34 minute debut 2 days after signing.

Granted, the other 500k looks split between hope and despair m8

If you notice on 6 of our chances they were aimed at the left hand and missed by a foot or so. Where as Rochdale aimed in between the sticks which made our goal keeper work,

It’s about consistency and players earn higher marks by being consistently good all game. Not just an 8 for one flashy bit of skill but an 8 for playing well the whole game.

IMO nobody this season has consistently played well and that must really bother Robins.

There’s definitely a lack of motivation on the pitch and whether that’s to do with late signings not gelling yet or a poor pre season I don’t know.

What I do know is that if you went to the Blackpool game there’s no way you’d give any player over a 5 for that dreadful performance.

At least on Satdee we were carving out chances-ironically if one of them had been put away that player would have probably got an 8!

Bristol Rovers were prepared to pay the same?

Problem with fans especially keyboard clowns on here they expect a Lionel Messi with every signing. The team is still bedding in and I expect once settled it will look different to what it is now. We have players who have not featured yet Kelly, Jones and Chaplin. Should have beaten Scunthorpe and Rochdale imo but I’m not saying we were unlucky in either game these are two established savvy teams who were allowed to do a number on us. I’m sure things will improve

6 games after promotion there are genuinely some fans calling for Robins to be sacked. Not that we needed reminding that being CCFC manager is hardly a route towards job security, new manager every 17 months since 2001 so I'm sure many of the natives are getting restless on that basis alone.

I think some people we on the verge of calling for his head far earlier than now. I understand the frustration, but expectation had to be tempered with realism; virtually a whole new team will take time to learn how each other play.

Perhaps, but if anything happens to Chaplin, Hiwula may become vital to our goalscoring (particularly as Ponti is away/injured)

I would just ask anyone whether 6 games is long enough to state confidently that a manager with a near 50% win ratio over 2 spells, by far the best in our history, has become a liability who can take us no further. Don't see how the answer to that can be anything other than 'no'.

Ah but i would say past performance doesn't guarantee future returns. Looks at Mowbray's success at Blackburn (sorry that is just the first example that springs to mind, i know you were not his biggest fan, to say the least).

Genuine question G....what's the minimum level of performance MR can get from the team this season without him being sacked....in your view.

Didn’t we also pay for Allasani? And maybe that’s Morgan Williams lad? Might not have been as much as the others but he’s had money to spend
