Can't work out what's going on with Sheaf at times recently. Looks half the footballer he was previous seasons. On the plus side, probably playing himself out of a big move.

I can only assume he was denied a move in the summer and it's gone downhill from there. He's droppable at this point, but I have a feeling that he will be close with Lampard.

Fuck him off to Stoke with the other deadwood, unless he starts putting the effort in.

Pressure of the armband?? Lati was the only one trying to gee them up at the last couple of corners, give him the chance to step up.
Sheaf might do much better without having to be the focal point.

He's been poor and slow , had the ball near the end passing it square and then out of touch.

I'm now why that that's a plus? It means less money coming into the club to reinvest when we do sell.

He's a follower, not a leader.

Was happy to let Hamer be the guvnor in midfleld.

If we sign a leader in midfield, it might be like signing 2 players.

I'm sure half of it is the instructions, some of the passes he's making looks like he's being told to be conservative. He was at his best last season when Robins gave him a bit more of a license to get forward and drive with the ball.

That said we should move him on, if only to remove the latest scapegoat for every poor team performance.

Wasn't there some talk of him playing through injury not long ago, having injections or something?

Burden of being captain, alongside having no players capable of playing progressive balls next to him. Literally has zero confidence to do anything with the ball at current.

Fact for most of season we’ve got no-one willing to pick up ball drive at players & play forward pass has been obvious. In fact been clear for last 2 years we’ve not got that in the team. Can’t see it changing either in January, who wants to come to a club currently on downward trajectory

As someone mentioned on the other thread, was proper embarrassing him having a go at the refs at the end. Fuck off. Had 45 mins to win that game and it certainly wasn’t the refs fault we didn’t. The exact blame mentality we need to get rid of. Take responsibility and hold others accountable if needed.

Today is the straw that breaks the camel’s back from him today. He can take his poor passing, weak decision making and zero leadership elsewhere.

Get him gone from the club.

Doesn't trust what's behind him,
Nothing on in front of him.
Nothing working either side of him.

Having more touches to look for a pass, trying to do a bit too much - see above points.

Perfect storm of above points, missing start of the season and possibly being denied a move in the summer.

What's wrong with Sheaf?

He went from having Callum Doyle, Fadz, Mcnally behind him while having Hamer and O'Hare around him.

To now having Joel, Bobby behind him and Torp and Eccles around him aka the chuckle brothers.

It really isn't rocket science, we had a top side that was full of quality. We have a shit team now.

Doesn’t shoot when the shot’s on but sends comically over hit balls to the back post instead. Bloke is the worst captain we have had here since 2017

You say that, but his absolute worst moments today were when he was trying to be less conservative.

Wouldn’t want him to shoot either… his conversion rate is terrible at best. Most of his shots are high/wide

He got away with it before because he had ohare and hamer with him, now he’s the player we expect to step up he’s shown he can’t do it in this team, Tbf to him he’s got Eccles and torp next to him, he’s bound to struggle, he’d be better with Allen in there for Eccles,

I want the team to do well, at the moment we aren't. I would much rather get proved wrong (yes, yes I know that isn't how it works on SBT).

I've stuck to my guns on Sheaf for a long time (and got a lot of shit for it) but I genuinely don't think he's playing much worse than he normally does. The results and way the rest of the team are performing is causing a deeper level of investigation and I would even go as far as saying some people are now even overreacting to each mistake he makes.

He's a good Championship midfielder, but has some massive flaws which made some of the comments about him last season feel utterly ridiculous to me. Particularly regarding his value, and also effect on the team. He isn't captain material, can't shoot, has a hindrance level of vision, and very rarely pulls off anything useful towards attacking moves. He has looked better just sitting back more, and you can usually rely on him to make a strong challenge when needed, but sometimes he switches off and then when he does go forward you can expect nothing really to come of it. Usually it is just a safe pass that slows our attack down.

I know we have just spent a lot of money on players from the kitty built up from selling others, but he is one of a few I think we really need to get rid of sooner rather than later, and bring in some better players who can have more of a positive impact.

He wasn't denied a move, he turned down the only team to make a solid offer because he thought he'd get better.

He didn't, and I can only assume he's pissed off about it, but that's just my guess.

Missed a lot of preseason, been playing through injury and is currently playing down to the level of the rest of the team.

Yeah, and he's a shit player in a shit team. I don't buy into the "Poor Ben" field of thinking. Even when those better players were around him he was forever giving the ball away or misplacing passes.

He's never been as good as a few on here would have us believe.

Form is temporary, class is permanent.

This skid mark of form may work in our favour if we can get him to sign a new contract. With COH, his form in Dec-Feb all but confirmed he was never going to sign a new contract.

You're right he hasn't been as good as perhaps people first thought. Hence why he is still playing for us.

We sell all our talent and still expect to be as competitive, it don't work like that.

If people think Thomas, Joel, Sheaf, Eccles and Torp as your centre backs / centre mids then they need to give their head a wobble.

I think mason Clark getting injured hasn’t helped and just as he was starting to find form and I think Frank needs to find a central midfielder in this window because sheaf and Eccles don’t dictate the play we need to find a ball player before our season completely blows up .

Sheaf is just not bothered, just like MVE and Simms. We need a clear out to improve the dressing room - until that happens and the attitude improves, we are stuck. We are very much like a shit Championship version of Man United.

Unfortunately, Lampard has made no difference in terms of motivating the players which is disappointing, but I guess not too surprising.
