I do fully believe that our attack is worthy of top 6, quite comfortably.

But when you try play out from the back and don’t have the players to do it, our attack will never get the opportunity to really show it. Conceding soft goals and giving opposition too much space to attack our box. It’s honestly pathetic. We don’t block the cross, don’t pick men up…no accountability.

Sort that defence out and our fortunes will change dramatically.

A lot of debate about his decisions. Getting rid of Robins obviously being the key one, which for what it’s worth I can understand. What really worries me though is his core belief that this squad should be top 6. Not only do I seriously disagree with it, but how can a man with no football experience be so confident in that opinion. It speaks of delusion that I worry drives all his other decisions.

Well said. The decisions we do see King make, are usually rash and diabolical, so what about the criminal decisions he’s making behind closed doors? I can’t see how anyone would think this is a top 6 ‘deck’ right now.

All this nonsense about not squandering our launch pad to the Premier League and the deck… the deck of the Titanic is in better condition.

I appreciate I’ve been exasperated and OTT in my criticism of Doug King in the last few weeks but I can’t see any way that we’re not sinking and King has ripped up everything that has served us well for the last 7.5 years.

King has made comments about no suitable assistant manager candidates coming across his desk etc which implies he has final sign off on everything. If so, what was the justification on spending big money on Kitching, Asante and EMC (raised from VG and GH sales) as they’re not worth a fraction of what we paid in the here and now and they’re all 25 so meant to be near their peak? All 3 IMO look nowhere near good enough for a Top 6 Championship deck.

Even if Doug is drunk on his own dickhead ego, which I very much think he is, he must be questioning Dean Austin and saying why have we spent £13M on those three clowns?

Attack, maybe. But midfield with a semi-fit Sheaf and Eccles for most of the season and then the defence and goalkeepers?

Midfield is light..yes. But it’s not the main problem at the minute. First thing that needs addressing is the piss poor defending.

Whats great about football is opinions but I don’t see how our attack is comfortably worthy of top 6. Wright is probably the only one for me.

But only through sky blue tinted glasses could Simms, Bassette and BTA be classed as top 6 strikers, in my opinion.

Deary me, a poor way result against a team at the top, led by coaches who may be out of a job tomorrow and it's melt down on here.

This squad was pushing for the top 6 before the distraction of the fa cup run.

Before the season started, many predictions said we were top 6 and so e suggested automatic promotio was a possibility. Wilder said we were yop 6 capable just a few days ago.

Many people did say it at the start of the season, but Doug is ultimately the most important opinion because he is where investment lies. It worries me because personally I believe we need (better) investment. I hope he understands that whoever he brings in will need it.

To be fair on the fitness point we have scored the highest amount (at least before last night not sure if changed) goals in the latter stages of the match with 10.

Must show we have some good fitness to keep going no?

Depends on the Simms. If he can get back to his purple patch form, he can definitely do a good job for a top six team.

One of the big jobs for Frank will be getting a tune out of him

We can say what we like about DK but do folk really believe that MR could turn it around with the players we have? Could indeed any manager? Then ask yourself who approved their signings? Apparently no player got signed without MR's approval

It is a good squad. Look at the bench last night, packed full of talent. It's certainly stronger than the last squad that went to Turf Moor. Fortunately that day we had a superstar up top who carried us for the entire season.

Unfortunately, under Robins, Carr and the rest of the coaching staff, we are disjointed and have no real consistent set up. No one knows the best 11. No one knows the formation. No one seems to be able to get some big names playing at their level.

We are certainly missing one or two and someone should take the blame for not getting an additional midfielder in.

Yep, I have been part of the 'we're only X amount of points off the play-offs brigade', but I genuinely believe we need to be thinking we're in a play-off scrap now. It's fighting for every point mentality from now on. 50 points looks a long way off

Well according to King he cant understand why everyone keeps going on about needing another midfielder when we've got what we have.
this just shows how little knowledge he has of football but says to me he is involving himself in first team affairs far to much and part of the problem

Lets give him the benefit of the doubt and say that he is quoting what MR was telling him when we had a crap start and would turn it around before he got the sack.

I think the squad is top 6-8 quality, maybe with one or two good additions in Jan.

With the defenders it feels like we’ve signed most of them for their ability on the ball but we don’t make the best use of that. And we just need to bin the back 5.

The only player who is top 6 quality based on this year is Haji Wright.

how many of our current squad would get into one of the current top 6 teams?

Wright
Sheaf
Sakamoto
Milan
Eccles maybe
Simms maybe

I agree with Doug (controversial i know) i think our squad "should" be top 6, maybe top 8 at worst.

This season we've chopped and changed too much, in terms of tactics/formation/line up and we haven't built up any consistency

Yes we know the defence isn't playing well enough, but i think we are only a LB and a CB away from storming up the league

We don’t seem to keep clean sheets with Binks in the team so maybe time to bring in our very expensive centre back. MVE Thomas Kitching Bidwell would be my back four and leave them to get used to each other stop all the switching about.

King is a failure, fucked up using all of the Gus and Gyokeres transfer fees effectively.
Fucked up appointing a new assistant
Fucked up sacking Robin
And is now going to fuck up appointing a new manager.
And a collection of other minor fuck ups along the way.

We know he knows nothing about football but appears he's a bit clueless about all matters.

Where do you start on what worries you about Doug King?

The most worrying for me are his complete lack of understanding or knowledge of football, and his actions making it seem like he is treating the club as his play thing, and his Doug knows best attitude, I would say are high on my list.

Do you think the Owners of Man City, Arsenal, Etc had a deep understanding of football when they bought them ? No. Of course not. It’s true for most modern owners.

This isn’t the 1980’s where a guy who had made a few quid and loved his local club bought it.

I don;t know Doug but i do know business.

From what i can see he is trying to put in a high calibre team of people commercially and on the football side to give us the best chance of success. It might work, it might not but my god it’s so much better than we had under SISU and frankly so much better than most championship teams get. The only clubs who have invested more than we have over the last 2 years have been championships clubs who had recently dropped down from the Premier League.

Does Doug have an ego, almost certainly. Has he made some errors in driving change, yes. Are we better off for his involvement ? By a country mile.

So Robins has said he chose his back from team. King has said Robins chose his back from team.

ITK’s have said Robins and Aldi fell out, King has said Robins and Adi fell out.

Literally no source has said King fired Adi or imposed the coaching team on Robins.

I don't know Doug either, but I do know business like many others on this site. I don't think that's exclusive.

The owners of Man City, Arsenal et al had the sense to bring Football experts in, to run the club, not become Owner, MD, Chairman etc that Doug has.

I don't disagree we are better off now than under the last regime, but there are lots that could be improved.

I thought DK said at the forum that he planned to bring in a Sporting Director, and last week we were linked with Steve Round for that role ???
