I'm glad I'm friends with my son and sister as there have been some wobbles along the way. My son can have my vinyl collection, there's a few bob in there !In the words of the streets:
I came to this world with nothing and I'll leave with nothing but love, everything else is just borrowed!
doesn't really answer your question though B!
My family, hopefully we'll all stay gone good terms until I peg it!
Hopefully I'll be able to leave them a few bob each, (won't be a fortune by any stretch of the imagination), though the government will probably have that off me to pay some one to wipe away my dribble and change my nappy in my twilight years!

When my dad passed away he left me and my sister to pay off his bills,he gave up paying them. He didn't do it on purpose he just never gave it much thought. Different generation ?Hopefully I'll have a lasting impression on my daughter and that she'll flourish in life and beyond in part because of me (or in spite of me lol), but financially a fortune. Alive I'm skint, but I have a healthy pension pot, a house, life insurance and if I die whilst still working here I have a huge death in service benefit. My wife / daughter would be loaded ... which certainly makes me feel like I'm in a vulnerable position!

When he died we still had to pay water/gas bills etc. They were all friendly at first then quickly turned nasty. I was shocked at their attitude. This was in 2001 so maybe they've changed a bit ?I thought debts died with you? Anything can come our of your estate if you leave one, but if you have nothing (and assuming no spouse/partner) I thought they were written off in law? Not 100% perhaps someone who is savvy on those things can clarify, but fairly sure I've heard that before.
Was it Oscar Wilde who said : " All I leave behind is my genius. "As others have said, hopefully my sons will be well in to their middle age & be happy & content with whatever they're doing with their lives.........
....but sometimes....in my darker moments, of which I can never seem to escape completely, I cannot help but feel Larkin had a point....
They fuck you up, your mum and dad.
They may not mean to, but they do.
They fill you with the faults they had
And add some extra, just for you.
But they were fucked up in their turn
By fools in old-style hats and coats,
Who half the time were soppy-stern
And half at one another’s throats.
Man hands on misery to man.
It deepens like a coastal shelf.
Get out as early as you can,
And don’t have any kids yourself.

Don't you know it's the day of the download,Torch!!A fantastic record collection.
Me and my sister were clearing out my dads house, what to keep/lob out etc, when his phone rang. It was a landline one and my sister answered it.That's appalling (and as I say, I didn't think they could either). At times of grief the last thing you need. I guess it's easy on the end of the phone or in a letter but turn up at your door and they're likely to get knocked out!
A fantastic record collection.
Beautiful, feeling melancholy and now chokedI have written a whole stack of stuff for my daughter over the years. Hope it fills her with happy memories for many years to come and is something she can cherish and share with her own children and then on down the line.
Mines better

By no means a definitive list at all, but all the above artists I have multiple albums by.
97.8% of his though are either Marillion or Fish albums. There are loads of great bands missing from that list. I imagine grendel has them in his....
No doubt I have missed a fair few there too, as I have quite a larger number of CD's and records in storage and this list is just what I have on my shelves.
I know where you're coming from JHFC, but Larkin was a miserable, over-privileged, whinging old twat in my book, and that particular poem boils my piss for various reasons.
Here's my preferred alternative, with some rather kinder advice. At the risk of getting over-emotional I'd say that if you leave nothing else to your kids at least leave them with the idea that life should be enjoyed, and that they are loved.
This Be The Converse (Adrian Mitchell)
They tuck you up, your Mum and Dad,
They read you Peter Rabbit, too.
They give you all the treats they had
And add some extra, just for you.
They were tucked up when they were small,
(Pink perfume, blue tobacco-smoke),
By those whose kiss healed any fall,
Whose laughter doubled any joke.
Man hands on happiness to man.
It deepens like a coastal shelf.
So love your parents all you can
And have some cheerful kids yourself.
Nothing by the Doors or Jefferson Airplane, and you call that a 'record collection'!I'll show you mine and then you show me yours. Then we can look down our nose at Grendel's.
