What teams always seem to forget is that the first game of the season is as important as the last and a win is only ever worth 3 points. So what I'm saying is that games against the likes of Yeovil have got to be turned into 3 points. There's no way any team should ease their way into the season, be happy with a draw or say there's a long way to go yet, least of all City...a good start for us is vital!

Totally agree we must pick up points at the likes of Yeovil as they aren't all that.

We should target 3 points from every game and we can get them ( we won't get them all ) but we can beat anyone in this league.

But do we have the mental toughness to grind out 3 points week in week out. Last seasons team wouldn't, but this is a new lot of players so it remains to be seen.

there is alot of difference between the first game and the last - ie if there is something still on the last game of the season, it is do or die - we have time to make up from whatever the result may be on Saturday. if we need to win the last game of the season to make the playoffs and we dont - I may need to be on suicide watch. but if we lose on Saturday, I think I may just recover. I know the theory behind it - whatever position we are in on the last day will be the result of the rest of the season but still, come on, do we need to put final day pressure on them already?

that said I reckon this season is probably the most important for us in a long while to get a good start. we have a losing mentality to turn around, plus we need to keep the fans on board this season. Alot of fans are ok with this relegation malarky at the moment because they think we will win more often -if we start losing, the reality of games against Stevenage and Yeovil will come crashing down.

I think it's important for a win in our 1st game of the season, BUT, it isn't the end all and be all if we lose and I wouldn't expect people to get on Thorn's back if we lose because there're still 45 games left and the fact is that we WILL lose games over the course of the season.

I agree a good start is Vital. I can really see us struggling tomorrow. I also think that this is an appropriate conversation for this thread:-

I think it may be time we wrapped this thread up. How appropriate that the person that started it also finished it.
