What I think the squad lacks in particular which has previously been identified and isn't cheap to fill the void of is a bit of pace and flair. We have the players who can grind and dig in, Marlon if he stays can score goals. Clingan who can pass and strike a good free kick but from the center of the park we have no pace while in possession or flair.

You look at Norwich - Henri Lansbury on loan, he bossed a lot of games and could play a killer ball. Then they bought in young Dani from Liverpool on loan, an outstanding player who will be one for the future for Liverpool.

QPR - The obvious Adel Taarabt. Silky and skillful, a lot of flair.

This is what we miss in the squad. When fit, we have one of the most competitive back fours in the league - Turner, Cranie, Keogh, Wood, Hussey, McPake.

If people sign, we have a pro dominant strike force - Marlon and the Juke.

Perhaps get Jesu Fernandez Saez (Suso) in from Liverpool for a season long loan, 18 year old Spaniard. Someone along those lines.

This is him just to show you what I mean - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EYPvX1FrKfc

I mean, they are the main players who would feature in a back four competing for places making it competitive

I think we've had that problem for years mate. When was the last time we had a proper attacking play-maker?
The problem is, those types of specialist players cost money......and you know the rest.

Pace was identified as a short-coming long ago, but imo although it would of course be a bonus, the lack of pace is nowhere near as highlighted in the formation that we're currently using. It was desperately lacking under AB who insisted on the direct and diagonal ball which was pointless without pace and width.

The system we use doesn't have wingers, so what's the point in that?

Alot of teams have used the loan system wisely, Derby did with Lupoli when they went up, he banged in over 20 goals. The suffered big time when they go there but they did it!! West Brom have done it with Bentner also in the past.

Blues had Bendtner, Baggies had Bednar! But he wasn't on loan. Blues also had Muamba and Larsson on loan that season and that got them up.

The trouble is these loans cost more than we pay out in transfer fee's on the likes of Baker who is at least then our player. If we had lots of cash then yes get loans in but when you don't its always better to buy that player and at least if he makes a difference he is yours to keep or sell on for a tidy profit.
