Foden is an excellent player. I really rate Reece James too.

I may be wrong but I'm pretty sure Foden has started all bar 1 game this season for Man City.

Edit. Just seen someone else has already replied.

Over the course of the last 3 seasons he hasn’t - I’m not even bothered about England but it seems everyone is buying into the premier league is the best league in the world mantra.

Southgate has the best record in tournaments for half a century hasn’t he? I doubt appointing Eddie Howe or Steve Cooper will elevate to world champions

So DeBruyne isn't world class either? Guardiola doesn't play him every week.

Even by your standards failing to see how good Foden is really is ridiculous.

Pickford aside, is this our strongest starting XI?

Germany look like they've been coached by Southgate.

But how old was Foden three years ago?

He's very good for Chelsea but I've not been particularly impressed when he's played for England. 5 or 6 out of 10 player. Different side but I miss not having someone of the class of Ashley Cole, 8+ out of 10 virtual every game for England.

I'm hardly a fan of the Premier League but can appreciate players like Foden genuinely are special talents, if you think Guardiola and most of his contemporaries are wrong then fair enough

18/19. Hard to judge someone back then when they were just breaking through in a top side like Man City.

England more adventurous than other night (or at least trying to be)…but Germany comfortably the better side.

I haven’t said that but many special talents haven’t always been selected for the team anyway - the German ethos has been team - as indeed was England - Jimmy greaves was an amazing talent versus Geoff Hurst wasn’t he?

Have we had a shot yet though? All seems to get turgid and breakdown just outside their box

Gyokeres-esque miss there from Sterling.

As I say that we have a shot a Sterling should really score

Some great football and a delightful ball from Shaw.

Already much better than Friday night.

Shall we replace Southgate in your opinion before the World Cup?

Much more positive play in this match. The pressing out of possession is definitely sharper.

England have a load of great prospects but fuck all world class players.

Kane is the only you'd consider but his form is shite.

Foden is a great talent but is he any better than Gavi for instance? Time will tell but I don't think he's a generational player.

People make out that England have Ronaldo, Rivaldo and Ronaldinho up front the way people go on.

I liked his ‘shows how important it is to practice with your weaker foot’ comment when Sterling and Foden wanged their passes. I’m sure they practice mate.

He isn't the finished article for sure and is having a poor game tonight, but I feel certain he's going to be a top England player in the years to come.
