His words:

“We had a pretty good pre-season, to be fair, we were all at the Everton game and I think that was putting us under a false sense of security of what may occur when we got down to the real battle of trying to get out of this very difficult league.

“We then come to this point where we start badly, it’s a little unclear for all of us how it’s all working. Listen. I am talking here very openly. I have got employees who we are talking about who are fantastic coaches and who I respect very much. You saw what Rhys did at Sunderland and so I am putting a disclaimer on that because they are all fantastic people that this club respects very much.

“I had a meeting with Mark on September the 30th, I think it was, where I made it... Well, I shot him a memo and said to him that he has a few options. And the options were that we either keep it as it is or we look to put some hierarchy in. Or we look to, again, bring a head of first team coaching because I said he needs some balance, it seemed to me. That worked in the past, so we went out again to try to find a head of first team coaching and, again, we couldn’t get anyone through the door.

“The senior team of the club, myself, Dr Claire-Marie Roberts, Dean Austin and Mark met for a first quarter review to look at the situation on October 30, I think it was, and went through all the aspects of the football club. Anyway, it became clear that at this level, with this deck of players, we are lacking an elite coach/tactician to support the manager..”

So technically if you take 30th Sept as the date Doug decided it wasn’t working it was 10 games including three cup matches.

Viveash leaving was the starting point. King clearly decided to give Robins a go on his own. He was happy pre season. Ten games later he wasn’t. He blames end of last season on the fallout. This are his words.

Weird indeed.

Was that quote from the CET?

Yeah, not his word then.

I’m not sure how you’re reading that as anything other than he was happy to put a coaching team in, we failed to complete it, ten games later we tried again and failed again seven games after that we sacked him. That’s the timeline. He was happy to blame last season on Robins and Viveash falling out and go with the fix of sacking Viveash and bringing in a coaching structure around Robins.

“ I think that was putting us under a false sense of security of what may occur when we got down to the real battle of trying to get out of this very difficult league.”

That’s the key quote. “What may occur” makes no sense if you’re halfway through a period. King saw this season as a new start with a new structure.

You yourself have questioned whether or not the one decent bit of form was just a flash in the pan and the truth is that we just don't have a good team.

The evidence supporting that view grows by the week up to the point where now half the season we have been playing poorly yet most still seem unconcerned by a relegation battle.

That one decent bit if form was 25 games btw which is over half the season, we lost 5 games between 11th November and 6th April, we only lost 2 of our opening 11 games aswell

It's only natural he would have also looked back at how we finished the previously too, especially in the context of losing his backroom staff.

He might have had doubts. But ultimately he backed robins in the summer.

We reinvested around £45m back into the squad.

We did and though it replaced Vik's goals it didn't replace Hamer's all round game, leadership offered by Kelly, Fadz and Godden. We bought mainly young players rather than finished articles which the 5 players above mainly were.

Exactly, in the aggregate we actually
Improved on Vik. However, the midfielders were nowhere near Hamer’s output in terms of goals and assists and other key performance indicators in chance creation and touches in the box and so on.

Happened last season at home, think against Norwich, and when I kicked off on here got it explained to ne why it was a correct desicion.

I've no idea if that is the case or not

The free kick is given where the offside player receives the ball apparently, it was explained in the Comms.
