1.6 is usually ok for play off
So would need 56 or 22 points from 13 games
Even logically your numbers are far too high

My bad, last day in the office before xmas! Was working on 75 for playoff & thats 1.65 not 1.75.

Panic over, the march is back on!

Depends what the new variant does to hospitalisations.... hopefully its as mild as reported and this blows over.

Vast majority will be triple jabbed in a few weeks too.

By the end of the season some will be on their 7th vaccination.

I´m not worried.

If hospitalisations and deaths (particularly among the vaccinated) increase drastically and is at crisis levels. There would then be a case for further restrictions.

Then it would have been too late, surely? The idea is to intervene before this occurs!

Quite a few players have had it in the past
But omicron seems to be re-infecting some who've had past iterations of the virus
Especially if they're unvaccinated

You can still transmit the virus if you have been vaccinated. It isn´t particularly a valid point here.

Agreed, far more likely that it started when some idiot interfered with an owl.

Can see it happening. Not to the extent of when this all started but definitely a 3 or 4-week suspension

Miles away from when that Lincoln game was called because of snow when they had injuries.

They spanked us on the re-arranged one.

As Whitty said this morning, this current wave should only take a few weeks to peak due to the sheer speed and volume of infections.

Doubt many games will be on this weekend and suspect Christmas fixtures will all be postponed too Not usually doom and gloom but I've never known as many of my friends/colleagues to have Covid at the same time and if that's extrapolated nationwide...

You could make an argument for a pause over Xmas. Given the stories in the paper clubs that expect a bumper Boxing Day or New Year crowd might not see that anyway. Could they just take two weeks out and add it to the end of the season?

I guess the issue there is that if its not better by then do you keep extending the break? 2 weeks quickly turns into months and the season going on for weeks into the summer which won't work with the changes needed for the World Cup.

This will create 'fun' for the January transfer window, with clubs reluctant/unable to pay for players due to financial uncertainty. Also makes you wonder if more clubs will go into admin etc. Mid table championship teams might be tempted to take a points hit (would probably still escape relegation due to the state of the clubs at the bottom?) Can't remember what the rules are regarding going into admin, but this might be a tipping point for some? I'm sure the PL will offer 'must pay back loans' to 'help' those lower down the food chain! Seriously, though, the PL clubs will be able to hoover up whoever they like at basement prices.

Rules say 14 fit players and it is on City should make them stick to that

would be surprised if we see another game this season anywhere in the championship after this weekend, in fact in any league

I suspect the minimum will be behind closed doors for a period of time. A pain but easy to manage and save any chance of season being cancelled.

We will be more disadvantaged than most if behind closed doors games come back into play. Having crowds back has increased the tempo at games, which suits our pressing game and I would expect us to slide back into mid table if no fans can attend games.

I totally agree the crowd was driving us on, this is also a factor in so many last minute goals. It would be a real shame if it goes behind closed doors again, but it is what it is.

People are being too pessimistic
Let's see how it plays out
Chris Whitty has said we'll have better info between Christmas and the New Year

Possibly. If that's the case then Nottingham Forest should be equally disadvantaged. Bigger crowds than us and the in form team. I'd have them as nailed on top 6 right now.

If clubs are forced to play behind closed doors then some of those clubs will close the doors forever. That will be the only power some owners will have, as they now have protocols that they have to follow to keep open. We have a group of people with the power to close down or cancel anything they want at anytime they feel. They have all the tools to implement these things and have punishable laws in place to enforce them.

Unfortunately clubs will take advantage of a situation that will help out a present playing situation, but in the end it's a very slippery slope to go down. Some managers have already implied this without directly saying so by calling all players not available injured. It's been said in government about restrictions or extreme reaction to a strain or variants which we know are always around the corner. It's never ending sadly and nobody has the answer other than do what didn't work before..
