What makes the team coventry city (1 Viewer)

I confess I have now been to 2 games at sixfields and the away game at port vale. Yesterday was one of the best performances I can remember by a Coventry team and certainly the best since they were relegated from the premier league. I started the season saying I wouldn't go to Northampton and it is a pain to get to. The strange thing is, although they are not playing in Coventry it is more of a Coventry team than I can remember. I feel more of a connection with the players and the standard of coaching and Pressley's ability to motivate is obvious. The academy players have great technique and are obviously coachable. They are improving so quickly. Jordan clarke for example was immense last night and pound for pound must be the strongest player in the side. Last night's 18 had 2 players we had paid any money for Barton and Baker , everyone else was a free or had come through the academy. This gives me much more enjoyment than watching a procession of managers journeyman pros and rubbish loan players. The current players really are playing for the shirt and if we could keep them together could do well on the championship.

The team will be Coventry City in exile until it returns to Coventry and this sorry chapter in the club's history is over. Everyone, in their heart of heart, knows it is just plain wrong.

What makes the team Coventry City is its history and heritage. It's fans were either born here or close by or have relocated to the area and found an affinity with the club.

Read the out of town thread and put this in perspective - players come and, although of course its great that we have a team at last
