What is the chance of The Juke and Codey making a partnership? (1 Viewer)

Saturday was particularly revealing as many times during the game both players were playing on opposite sides of the pitch .

Juke wins the long ball and often it goes out for a throw due to lack of support.

If he was more central with Codey closer then surely they would be more of a threat. Centre forward means centre or wide player ?

So is it poor coaching ( Harrison has seen off several managers with similar tactics) or is it poor a manager

What do you think?

I would have put him in the tip of the shitmond. He will regret coming here as we pass sideways and backwards which doesnt suit his style of play.

I do not understand what Platt has done wrong not to be starting given the other other inept options.

It is clear to see Platt & Juke have to be our front two at present,,,,,it may be worth giving Cody a go at tip of diamond if we insist on playing it.

Personally I would like to see Eastwood playing tip of diamond but think Thorn will not lose face over that one.

I think not swallowing his pride and investigating this option along with tweaking formation and changing play to more direct football.....not long ball I hasten to add, will cost him his job. Shame as I like AT

Oh well roll on West Ham eh! :p

Ffs yesterday we only played the diamond for the first 15 mins. The diamond is not the reason we got beat yesterday, in fact we never conceded while we were playing it yesterday.

Lets not make yesterdays game all about the diamond.

Back to original thread ---are Juke & Cody our number one partnership.....no
can juke & Cody make a decent patnership - no not at this level
Should Juke & Platt be our strikeforce given current options - yes

Diamond or no diamond Platt & Juke up top is our best option at present and we need to go a little more direct.. This does not mean hoofball but all the teams at top of league play a reaonable amount of direct football.

Exactly, I said in another thread the two Southampton CB must have pinged about 25 50-60 yard passes in the first half. They weren't aimless hoofs, most of the time they were quality passes pinged right to Danny Fox's feet or to Lamberts chest. They then played short passing 1-2's players running off the ball in our defensive third, another thing was the amount of bodies they got forward. They had the two full backs deep in our half. Lambert and the other guy upfront, they then had Lallana, Cork, Schneiderlin, Chaplow all bombing forward at pace well inside our half and penalty box.

I know this is controversial and I do really like Juke, but i think a partnership of McDonald and Platt could work.

Big man fast nippy forward alongside.

Don't worry that will be our strike force after January. With ROD and Eastwood backing them up.

the problem is...cody isn't getting anywhere near Juke for the flick ons, who's to say he will with Platt.

I agree but even if he were close to Juke, juke receives the ball out wide 9 times out of 10
As i stated on original post whose fault is that coach ,manager or player

The problem is Cody is in the right place Juke isnt! Juke drifts left and right while cody as a center forward/striker stays in the middle! The problem Juke has hes not the big man of the 2 and hes crap at heading!!! Platt on the other hand can play with juke as Platt does all the work juke doesnt want to do! If Cody played with Platt ud probably see a simular partnership, but with Juke i dont think you ever will see the partnership we need!

I like Cody and like his movement he creates space, sadly half the time the rest of the team aren't looking for him or have been told to do something different!

I was amazed that during the first half we were actually playing 4-5-1 and even a bad 4-5-1 with the Juke wandering wide yet again and Cody playing wide left mid - what is that all about !!!

In effect at times it was 4-6-0 - totally and utterly crazy tactics against a free flowing side like Southampton. For long periods in the first half we couldn't get the frigging ball off them.

So what is the best formation for our beleaguered squad - I don't think even AT knows at the moment !!!

Sorry posted this on the other thread it was meant for this one - had two open.

I think Cody will still come good and many seem to be dismissing him very quickly. Real limited experience at this level and no pre-season. He is learning his trade in a struggling side whilst trying to get fit. I don't think he should be playing regulalry and ideally eased in but we have growing pressure and little options. I'm sure next season we will see the better of him, but it's likely to be in League one which ironically would currently suit him better. He has shown some glimpse (imo) to suggest there is something there for this level. We paid (and are continuing to pay) a lot more to Freddie who many are clammering to see return as if he will somehow start producing. He has had many more chances and also never really done it at this level./ Cody has a comparable lower league record, scored many different types of goals and is younger and hungrier. Give him a chance to flourish because we need him right now - we need everyone right now.
