Of course it is!

Just makes it seem like every thread has a couple of old blokes with jumpers on stood there ranting about the same thing, they haven't read the thread and don't intend to but just post random rants in them all that are completely unrelated.

By all means, go all out with the rants in the threads, ie Ryton threads etc.

Genuinely think we could give them a run for their money in terms of content. I mean just the player ratings thread alone has more analysis than all 15 articles that come out of a match.

How about it Nick? SBTTV? SBT Pink? You too could be in a dead, loss making business!

With the last software I did actually try to get some content stuff, but it is a nightmare trying to get content written and uploaded. Would be a full time job pretty much.

Plus I am not very good at writing articles

Sounds like the Smurf and SISU would get on well!...

And a load of other stuff on his wiki entry - https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Norman_Smurthwaite

Doesn't stop the vast majority of websites that report on us to be fair. Is there any cash in the ads or would it be a labour of love?

I'd love to see a Grendel and SBK vodcast though.

Nah it would have to be a hobby, couldn't do it as a full time job which then means I would need to stop working to do it all myself.

Could do some sort of thing where if people write articles they get ad money if they did it as a hobby but it is just keeping it consistent, I'd rather do it properly or not at all

I don't "wish" for Mr Smirfwaite" don't know nothing about him to be honest, all I wish for is owner or owners who realise what running a football club is all about

I was wondering about training grounds at the level we now find ourselves at.

I know that when they were in the top flight Wimbledon used to train in a local park and Brighton used to train at Sussex University. I recall that in Keith Houchen's book ('A tenner and a box of kippers') he says neither Hartlepool (4th tier) or Leyton Orient (3rd tier) had training grounds when he played there.

Does anyone know how many League 1 clubs own their own training ground?

It will be one less soon. Assuming we're still a league one club at that point.

I'm not sure he has an angle, i just think he was asked as he is a local fella who knows the business to give an honest answer.

Now would he be interested if anything came about? i would say yes he could be someone that could help the club move forward with a different idea than what we have now. As for if he is good or bad, nobody will know, but he comes with knowledge of the business and has more than money interest in the club doing well. Does this make him a candidate or the right person, as said before nobody knows who that is, all of this is a gamble now, its a business, not a working mans game that old owners cared about.

However i do think the club needs to get back to being a family club with owners connected to the city with past knowledge of what has happened. Any owner can use this to progress the club forward, they need to get the fans back believing they are doing right by them and the club, be open have connections with fans, bring in people that will connect the dots. Have a plan a goal and aim for what the future holds, is smurf someone who can do this? again he fits the bill in my opinion. The only fact i know is as we are any group or individual has to better at every aspect of running this club than what we currently have.

I really wasn't fishing for that sort of comment, I really would be interested to know how many of the teams in our league have a training ground.

The linked article from The Sentinel tells a lot about Mr Smurthwaite.

http://www.stokesentinel.co.uk/port...lub-collapse/story-28862106-detail/story.html

Here are some highlights, according to the article:

- Bought the club for a song when it was in administration.

- Claims he has put in about £3 million and now the club is up for sale has declared he wants all his money back from the sale.

- Seems prepared to sell the club while retaining ownership of the ground.

- He has warned he's going to stop investing money if the club isn't sold (meaning the club will need to be self-sufficient).

- He warned he was going to cut the playing budget by more than a third this year.

In some aspects, there doesn't seem much difference between our current owners and Mr Smurthwaite.

Why does it matter what other clubs in this league do? We have an asset that is a training ground. That's all that matters.

To answer if you think it is OK for CCFC to not own their own training facilities or clubhouse. That is what will happen if Ryton goes.

Maybe the next stage is for the club to become a franchise and move elsewhere, it shouldn't happen as EFL rules say it can't but I would not be shocked if it did.

If we were franchised I would hope most people would be consistent and support sisu as long as it made sound business sense.

We don't know what is going to happen at this stage, so your question is somewhat academic.

My personal opinion at the moment is that the club currently benefits from having it's own training ground. I have an open mind on whether the current benefit can be adequately compensated for by training at a 'hired' or 'shared' facility (I don't currently have sufficient information about that 'new' facility to give an informed opinion).

I also have an opinion on the location of the Academy. I think this would be better accommodated alongside the senior training facilities.

Regards the idea of a franchise, I suspect that isn't beyond the realms of possibility and that the more hostile the local environment is to the club the more probable it becomes.

That's a decent answer, pretty similar to my own view but I'd add I do not believe SISU have any intention of providing a like for like replacement and they will move the club and academy to rented facilities.
