What's the lowest finish that you would deem to be an acceptable result?

Before the start of the season, I'd have said top 8 - anyone want to go lower?

6th

manager chages have messed us up big time but still maintain we have best squad in division

with 13 games left i feel we should finish top 6

although im well aware it will be a great feat too considering.....

8th anything less and it's the same old end of season collapse. We should get to 6th with this squad though but with the changes it may be a struggle

After 9/10 signings minimum top six
Now it is 14/15 signings and we are 7 points off so still top six despite off field Shyte

Mid table. Too much rubbish going on around the club to expect anymore.

I couldn't honestly say.. it could be crazy behind the scenes!

I'm sure the objective at the start of the season was top 6 if not top 4.
I'm sure MR must have committed to top 6, otherwise they wouldn't have employed him.
I doubt they'll take on a new manager who doesn't promise them the same.

with the poor start in mind i think top 8 would be satisfactory....would be gutted to miss out on the play-offs though!

From now I would agree with above and say 8th, I wouldnt be happy with dropping any lower but appriciate it may be difficult for us to reach top 6 now.

in terms of making progress I fear whats going on around the club now may cost us - although I would say I feel the player quality should over ride that, in terms of not dropping any lower down the league from here on in.

Come on we are only a few points off top 6 & have considerable strength in depth within the squad.
It is doable, with the right attitude and a reasonable injuries record .

I think there is evidence of other teams in the top 6 beginning to flag, as you can see from this snippet from the recent form table, we are still catching up, even despite the recent blip, well just about...
Team Pld W D L F A GD GFA GAA PpG Pts Form
1 Yeovil Town (3) 8 8 0 0 19 3 16 2.37 0.37 3.00 24 WWwWWwWw

Based on the title thread - "ACCEPTABLE", 8th place could be deemed acceptable based on pretty much new team/terrible start and off the field issues.

Anything lower is NOT acceptable. We are 8th now and been on an upwards path for a few months now . To dip now isnt acceptable. Only been to one game but
results away from home at higher placed clubs indicate to me we are easily one of the strongest teams .

From our current league position, squad size & relative quality and recent form, reaching the top 6 is definitely achieveable.

I may be absolutely deluded, but I still think top 2 is possible and anything lower than top 6 is unacceptable. The most significant factor could be the number of clean sheets between now and the end of the season. For me the best thing to happen from Robins' departure is the introduction of Cameron to the team, which could prove to be a masterstroke. If we can build on Saturday then it's possible to put a winning run together. Anyone remember West Brom a few years back when they hauled back a 12 point deficit in the last 10 games, that's the magnitude of what's required.

I think to say any lower then playoffs from here is unacceptable is a bit far unfortunately.

Think about the question - its not what you hope, want, or even expect - its what is acceptable. Is it really unacceptable for us from this position to not make up five points whilst also having one or two games less then the teams around us? I still think we can do it, but if we dont is that unacceptable?

Now - if you are asking what would have been unacceptable from say the start of the season - that may be a different question.

Agree CovMatt.

By the end of this season we could be a club that has had 2 managers and 2 caretaker managers all within 1 season - thats good going even for us.

Look at where we were after 8 games - 3 points on the board - 5 games without a point under Shaw - and staring another disasterous season in the face. Back then 5th from bottom would have been good.

Now the play offs are a pssibility - top two a stretch too far given the games in hand of others - but hey - i would love to be proved wrong.

Promotion is the only acceptable outcome.
A lot of people will only give it one season at this level. The squad will be depleted next season under fair play rules.
If we don't go up this season prepare for a struggle for many years.
Hard line fans (myself included) are fed up with people accepting mediocrity (Mid table).
At this point in time we are in a chance of promotion and everyone should push for it.
Statistically on current form we will be in the playoffs.

Last season

Tim Fisher post relegation

We need stability we have had something like 12 managers in 11 years that has to stop

I'm sure everyone agrees. But if a manager isn't doing well enough, he has to go.
I appreciate that hasn't always been the case over the last ten years but generally that's the way it goes.
This season has been different with the Robins situation.

I'd like stability, but keeping a poor manager for that reason only wouldn't be wise.

Those saying only top 6 - is it top 6 or is only top 6 and promotion acceptable?

Just top 6, anything can happen once in the play offs.

If we win the next three games and close the gap further then who knows what we can do. As others have said "are we going to suffer from an enventual wave of backroom nonsense"?. Dread to think what will happen if we stop paying the players....

After our start, the fact we don't have a manager, all the stuff going on behind the scenes and how far away we are from the play-offs, yes.

13th is realistic, anywhere between 4th and 15th is acceptable really in the light of 2 managerial losses and the start we had to the season

6th is acceptable. Promotion is preferable. We have pretty much the best squad in the league. Most the teams above us would love the squad we have.

Most of the teams below us possibly would, imagine that most of the teams above us would be happy with the squads that have as they are above us.

I think any finish is acceptable as long as it goes in the back of the net.

Regarding the league after all the effort to try and claw back up their it would be a real pisser not to make top 6.

It wouldn't surprise me if we scraped it on the last day and then lose 4-0 at home in front of a sell out in the first leg of the play offs.

My heart says we'll get there but my head says 8th at best.
