..if I was Hoffman with some backers.
Well I would wait in the background with the money ready and take the gamble that the current owners have no where to go.
I would undermine them where ever possible and get them to a position of either having to get out and take a major hit or at worst for the owners to have no choice but to put the club into admin.
Putting sentiment aside for a moment admin may be the best possible route for potential acquirers in my opinion. We are already close to being set adrift and are joint favourites at this moment in time to be relegated so I'm almost ready to accept that we are going down.
Hoffman and his pals buys back the club from the Administrators, pay off/ take on the footballing debts which I guess is a hell of a lot less than what is owed in total at the minute.
Massive publicity for the new owners (if they are part of or represent the new bank he is heading up). Buy the stadium and rename the it when the agreement with Ricoh runs out etc etc etc.
Build a team up to win L1, next the championship, Premiership and then the Champions League.

With the greatest respect to JE i don't think he is in the same league as GH but putting that aside...so what? You could probably say the same thing about a lot of other clubs. My guess is GH may put in his own money albeit not massive but all the same enough to sting if it went tits up.
