Got back to my damaged car to find a note from someone who said 'contact me' a person drove into your car and drove off. I contacted this kind person who sent me a photo of car and driver and a video of them driving off. Told me that said middle aged bloke (drunk) had got out of car, as was being shouted at by a few passers by, had a look at the damage , got back in his car, sat for 2 minutes, then drove off. Witness said they would happily support me in any prosecution.

Took evidence to local police station, who half heartedly took down details and said....meh (unlikely we'll do anything) 'You didn't witness anything' said Mr police. I said 'but I have a witness, including video etc' Do you want video? 'No, just give me the witness' phone number' - I already had!!

Me - anything likely to happen?
Mr Police - To be honest, no
Me - what if same drunk runs over a kid?
Mr Police - I'll make a note that witness has said he appeared drunk (I'd already told them, but he didn't show me notes that he'd taken)
Me - What happens next
Mr Police - probably nothing, but here's a reference number for you

GGGGrrrrrrrrr - not bothered about the cost (won't be a lot), but p*ssed off that with an open goal to get them, still can't be arsed (I pointed out that driving away from the scene of an accident was illegal, but meh again!)

Bit crap that. Probably not the crime of the century but I am getting a bit fed up with the excuse of "its cutbacks" for virtually turning a blind eye.

Nearly every time I hear about a crime being committed, the first thing the police ask is there any CCTV. It's almost as if unless there is a photo or video of the bloke sticking a screwdriver in your front door lock, it's too much hard work. There is no excuse in your case - plenty of digital evidence and willing independent witnesses.

Appreciate nobody was hurt and you say the cost won't be much, and clearly it is too late to prove if the guy drove away drunk .... but leaving the scene where there is damage could get you six months in jail. Extremely unlikely unless this guy is on probation, or he's currently banned...but never going to happen if the police can't be arsed.

I guess you could chase it up using the crime number, see if it's actually been progressed. If not, and you feel strongly that the plod had a shit attitude etc., put in a complaint to whatever Line of Duty team exists (professional standards?). If you feel the guy should be punished, put in a claim on his insurance for the damage and give his car reg and the crime number. He might not get fined, but if he's insured at least he might lose his no claims. There has be to SOME justice surely for being pissed and behind a wheel.

I know you’ve suddenly taken a huge shine to him but after watching his appearances on InfoWars, I’m convinced more than ever that Brexit is a minor point of his overall ideology and the sort of change he wants to bring about.

If you haven’t you should take the time to watch them and the absurd lies that are told that he doesn’t even bother to challenge or correct.

Fair enough if you want to vote for a party supporting Brexit, but this guy is part of something far wider and dangerous with some very nasty connotations and messages.

Sympathise mate, both of our cars were hit and driver bolted. Phoned police and they were barely interested in taking any details and just offered a crime number to get me off the phone.

You can get high quality home CCTV these days. People already post the pictures on facebook or other social media and the culprit is identified. Won't be long before someone decides to sort things themselves as the police aren't interested.

To be honest, the damage isn't that bad - plus I know a chap with a workshop who does repairs/paintwork incredibly reasonably (not sure how he makes a living). I was more interested in the culprit getting a shot across the bows so that he thinks twice before getting behind the wheel again. Although I know the police are 'stretched' I felt it odd that I had a photo, video and a witness, yet the police chap (not sure if it is one of the admin people they use), just oozed 'I'm taking the details, but nothing's going to come of it mate'. If the same guy killed a kid next week through being p*ssed. and I pointed out that I'd reported him already, you just know that there would be an outrage from the parents (rightly), with an inquiry saying, 'we've fallen short in our/we'll review our procedures blah blah blah'

I think the more brazen you are these days and thick skinned you can get away with a lot. Take Danny Baker for example. You'd think he'd keep a low profile for a bit over his dodgy royal baby tweet, but not at all as he did a gig in Nottingham to a full house, and got a standing ovation. Which seems strange to me.

Stick the footage/images on Facebook with a précis that the police have told you they won’t do anything. I’m sure that’ll kick them into life if it gains some traction. Everyone is terrified of social media image nowadays, including public services.

As an aside, I remember a case in my old place of work where a customer had complained on Twitter and had 2000 followers; management were running round like there was a bomb scare.

What do you expect him to do? Cancel? It's not like he suddenly decided to put a gig on as soon as he was fired - he's in the middle of (another) nationwide tour.

I am just saying, they have reported what apparently happened. Farage himself wasn't driving, so it is kind of a non-story.
