EDIT because loads of posts happened before my reply: Bang bang is also the sound of car misfiring, incidentally.

I thought we were supposed to be ready to go bang, bang, bang as soon as the embargo was lifted?

Thorn today has said “After losing out on a few signings during the embargo it was important to nail Shawsy down and hopefully we can get some players in now as well.
“We’re working on it and talking to a few and hopefully we will get them in and everything can be positive again."

You have to think the bang, bang, bang thing then was Collins and Syers, but surely that is just a bang, bang. Where did the other bang go?

Doesn't sound to me like we had many lined up at all. Now seems like we are back to just talking to players again.

Well, I'd just like to explain that not moaning/panicking doesn't mean I get "taken" in, because I can argue a point - its different from moaning. And if you check my first message on this thread you will clearly see I put lessons have to be learned because no, I do not want another pre-season like last.

Or we could totally be proactive and make the club get some signings in, because we ARE that influential.

Fisher said on the radio after the 1st when the players return they will start the banging. Or something to that effect.

How? Hold a gun to slimey fisher's head lol. It's probably the usual cock n bull story the club spins every pre season and tbh im totally bored with this shite. Thorn has now become part of the problem imo, saying things in the press to get fans hopes up,frankly the bloke's just embarrassing himself. He's just a sisu puppet toeing the line because the guy hasn't the bollox to rock the boat.

I'm not panicking and there is of course plenty if time. I have no issue with that. AT did say 'bang, bang, bang' once the embargo was lifted though didn't he. That alluded to players being signed up as soon as the embargo was lifted.

This now seems to me to point to us maybe losing out on more players than have been publicly mentioned previously.

Plenty of time but Thorn hinted that we would be getting players with immediate effect as soon as we were able to sign again.

Is this an issue with ownership or AT, though? It certainly wouldn't be the first time he's provoked quizzical reactions from the fanbase. He's a third-rate communicator.

The squad as it stands is far better equipped to stand L1 football than Championship football, so urgency shouldn't be as much of a factor as it was last season. As one of the bigger fish in the division, CCFC ought to have some advantage (and time luxury) in attracting loans and lower league signings.

So here is the actual quote from the article, not what people thought he said.

“The players I am looking at are free transfers so they are not going to cost anything,” said Thorn who has already been linked with out-of-contract 16-goal Shrewsbury Town striker James Collins.

“First of all we need to come out of the transfer embargo and then as soon as that happens we need to go bang, bang, bang.
“They are all there but until we come out of the embargo we can’t do anything

So the reality is Thirn said we need it to happen, not that it was going to happen, we have since seen such targets go eleswhere as we never came out of the Umbongo quick enough.

They signed for Doncaster and Swindon.

I support CCFC, I don't need to be brainwashed or have conditional support.

CUS Wyken said:
AND??

All these so called targets Thorn said he shown round the ground etc... what happened to them?

Or was that just his usual bullshit comments to brainwash people like you?

But I thought he'd written in blood that we would have ten players signed up this close to the season.

Exactly they signed for 2 teams in our league.

Does that mean they were his only targets?

Conditional support... This that some sort of 'I'm bigger better supporter because I don't slag the club off comment.' if so behave.

Similar to your comments then. If people don't agree with you then they've been brainwashed apparently.

Sincerely hope you are right CM.

It is to our advantage I think that we have the big name tag, the great stadium and excellent facilities. We also have Rainbow's and 647 Subway outlets.

And all you do is twist ANYTHING into an opportunity to slag him off! He had targets, they went elsewhere : is the embargo his fault?!?

FFS, change the record. We get it, you and others don't like him!

Think he possibly had in mind the two players he had shown round the ricoh, who gave the impression they wanted to come. However and I agree with them sign for another club who when they try and sign you they actually can. Or take the chance on a club who keep saying the embargo will be lifted any minute.

I would hazzard a gues AT thought he could announce those two the day it was lifted, the actions of the owners put pay to that. That leaves one other bang hopefully that wasnt Richard Shaw?

Looks like OLLY won't be a bang, Had a look on Barnsleys site when Stephen Dawsons name came up over the weekend.Hill was thinking then that he had a chance for OLLy and its on BBC text now that he's close to getting his man ,so maybe Dawson is a little sweetener to smooth it ,not that we had anything concrete.

To be honest any player in L1 or L2 if they had the chance to work with Paulo Di Canio or Andy Thorn.... it's an easy choice

Interesting Norwood/Dawson theory. I know Dawson quite well, top notch bloke and a super player.

Cleaned this thread up a bit, if people want to bicker and try to get 1 over on each other then can you keep it to PM? The point of this place isn't to get "1 over" on people

I think the "bang bang bang" was the sound of the debt laden accounts for CCFC, CCFC H and SBS&L hitting the floor

Based on those shopping at pound land will be a luxury!

" That's another fine mess I've got us in "
